  1. I’ve noticed some ar’s run perfectly with a H3 and a springco red spring (mine performs flawlessly with my 10.5” upper. As soon as you start lengthening the upper, the springco red spring AND the H3 buffer goes away quick!! With a normal 16” upper I generally prefer a H2 buffer with a GEISSELE super 42 spring. Thats been my best luck so far!

  2. Running a T3 spikes in my 16" BRN4, with a Hux can, shoots @ about 5:00 and 3:00 unsuppressed.
with 55 Grain 5.56. I started on the heavy side, and it cycles smoothly with LRBHO. So far very happy.
Have a 10.4 also to zero, probably start with a T2.
    Thanks for the Information 🙂

  3. I run the Geissele Super 42 H3 buffer on an 416 with a 10.4. It’s tuned perfect and runs flawless with full powered ammo, both unsupp and supp. I have limited experience with the BRN-4 sounds like they have things more constricted, less over-gassed. Lighting things up buffer wise or shoot strictly supp.

  4. For those whom didn't actually watch the video, it's a BRN4 upper, which is a 416 clone. They're gassed for standard springs and H1/H2 buffers. The 10.4" is pretty conservatively gassed in particular, they suppress quite nicely, but really only like full power 5.56 ammo. You can swap in a standard carbine buffer if using low power ammunition. They're a chore to get running unsuppressed with a FRT due to how they're gassed.

Actual HK 416, especially those of that era, are overgassed, oversprung, and overbuffered to the extreme. They're designed for reliability at the cost of all else, including parts wear, but there's almost nothing you can do if adding a suppressor, or using higher pressure ammunition than M855 spec. Hence why SF and the USMC had issues suppressing them with old NT4 cans, and using early lots of M855A1.

  5. Use an HK buffer. It is in between an H2 and an H3. Also use an HK spring, it's not the same as a milspec spring. Also just throw that bastard brownells gun in the trash and build an actual 416 with HK parts.

  6. Use an H2. That’s what I run in my 10.5 build, this Friday I’m picking up a delta team FRT-L3 and that gonna require a step above the H2. I’ll have to move to the H3 with the FRT-L3 trigger.
