Last night, both chambers of the legislature passed House Bill 2501, removing suppressors and short-barreled firearms from the controlled weapons list at the state level. The Committee Conference Report was approved by the House with a vote of 99-22 and by the Senate with a vote of 35-4, showing strong bipartisan support. House Bill 2501 will now be sent to Governor Laura Kelly’s desk for her consideration.

Please contact Governor Kelly and encourage her to SIGN HB 2501 by using the TAKE ACTION button below.

House Bill 2501 removes suppressors and short-barreled firearms from the controlled weapons list at the state level. This legislation is critical to ensuring that future changes in Federal law do not prevent law-abiding Kansans from possessing and utilizing suppressors to protect their hearing while hunting or exercising their Second Amendment rights. It also states that Kansas-based FFLs are immune from civil liability when returning firearms to their owners after a firearm hold agreement.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for updates as this critical legislation progresses.
