I’m a fan of 12.5 but would like to add a 10.3 or 10.5 to the armory at some point
11.5"
Tavor x95. Shorter with a 16" so it gives you the best velocity. All the weight is to the rear with your center of gravity so no barrel waving after holding for hours on end. Yes, parts can be hard to come by in the zombie world and yes you'd have to train a little to learn to use it. So the pros vs ones laziness and zombiness outweighs the rest. For AR… 16" or 11.5 if you'll never shoot past 250.
20 inch.
Probably not if you’re shooting 55gr and want good terminal ballistics beyond about 75 yds unless expanding rounds then maybe 150 yds. If you want reliably good terminal ballistics from a 10.5” barrel out to 300 yds you’re gonna need to pay for some 70+ gr ammo. If you want good terminal ballistics beyond out to 300 yards from 55gr you’re gonna need expanding rounds and a longer barrel (like 12.5”). So can a 10.5” barrel be good at 300? Yeah, but you’re gonna have to pay through the nose for the right ammo. Get an 11.5-12.5” barrel and you can reach out to the same range effectively for half the cost per round.
Yup 😊
I love my 10.5
I went 10.5in ,16in on 5.56 & 8.5in .300blk
11.5”
I'm gonna cheat and say a 16" bullpup build.
11.5 is best change my mind
16" barrels ( CA ) and midlengths….done
I absolutely love the 12.5" in terms of ballistics, versatility, and aesthetics.
As I absolutely love my MK18…. My 11.5 super duty takes the win overall.
I have a 10.5 but i’d say at 11.5 or 12.5 is better when it comes to velocity and longer range accuracy
11 inch
12.5 is best it still allows for midlength gas system
I’d say yes of a cqb rifle for home defence or vehicle security
But in all fairness for civilians a 14.5”-20” barrel spr is most likely more useful in a shtf situation.
12.5 goat
12.5 mid or carbine length is the sweet spot good velocity 16” overall with a silencer/suppressor/can whatever yall want to call it 😂 still easy maneuverability and can punch out to distance with good ballistics
20 inch, purely because the best performance of a 5.56 round comes out when you give it a longer barrel. I’ve heard that plenty of times, although I’m not sure how true it is. However I have wanted to grab a 10.5 inch MK18 equivalent. They look like fun shooters and if you’re going go for a shorter frame, why go by halves? Might as well just drop it down to SMG size rather than go with anything in between.
11.5
I have an ar 15, 16inch length barrel. Id like to change to a shorter barrel. Is it illegal?
I run 11.5 for 556 and 8.5 for 300aac
My favorite barrel length is a 12.5 or a 14.5
11.5 is perfect for a 5.56, 12.5 is good too
10.5in 4 16in and a 20in. The 4 16in one's are the family rifles
11.5 for AR15
8in for 300blkout
16in for AR10
since I have variety, my faves are 11.5, 12.5, and 13.7.
10” 300 blk 14” 556 one sbr lower is how I do it
No, the 11.5” killed 10.5” in every aspect except length. I do not believe one inch matters in the firearm world for maneuvering.
8.5, 9, 10.5 and then my 22.5😂
