Finally Fixed! CMMG BR3 308 Accuracy Test & Final Verdict

It’s been a long road with the CMMG BR3 in .308, but we are finally at the finish line. After dealing with persistent light primer strikes and a failed attempt to fix it myself, CMMG customer service came through with a revised Bolt Carrier Group (BCG).

In this video, I wrap up the entire experience, discuss the factory fix, and take the rifle out for a full 100-yard accuracy test with 8 different types of ammunition. Did the new BCG solve the reliability issues? Is it capable of sub-MOA accuracy? Let’s find out.

  1. Trigger pull needs a lot of work. Try Squeezing and following through . That pulling and rapidly releasing will cause inconsistent groups. Also try federal gold medal in 168 and 175, they have worked great in all my rifles. Hornady match is also a good factory ammo that yields good results.

  2. I'm thinking the reason that your having so much fliers is due to the fact that your jerking the trigger. The groupings aren't that horrible they are pretty consistent. Id also look at breathing techniques. There's a lot more to shooting very consistent and accurately at ranges over 200 yards and even the smallest jerk, flinch or different point of shot in the breath range will exaggerate more and more the further out you go. At 100 yards, you wont see much of bad shooting habits showing up. Good review though, glad you go the firearm working good. It's always annoying to deal with purchases not working as intended, especially since the money spent makes it more annoying. We in Canada are not so lucky, so far we are stuck with Turkish shotgun hybrids to shoot centerfire rifle cartridges with quality control issues, and with crusader arms having very horrible quality control issues that most of us end up opting out of the semi-auto market all together.

  3. Hoping this issue is permanently fixed for all new builds. I just ordered an upper/lower br3 and I’m anxiously awaiting it, seeing multiple reviews of people with issues makes me nervous that I wasted a lot of money.

  4. What would you say your best few group sizes were? I haven’t been able to get a review on if the dissent 308 uppers are actually accurate anywhere online? Basically wondering if I would be better off with another gun in this price range for accuracy or if this can compete. Thanks!
