The Best 5 AR-15 Upgrades Worth Doing

Some AR-15 upgrades are actually worth doing. Here are 5 that I personally prefer on my rifles that are not complicated or expensive but make a huge difference in quality of life and overall performance.

  1. Ever since 1980 when I bought some M1 Carbines, I fell in love with the M1 Carbine Slings. I don't like synthetic Slings. I have a few Leather Slings but I have always loved the Cotton M1 Carbine Slings. I do have two synthetic Slings, but I really don't like them.

  2. I like the b5 grips and the k2 from magpul. I also like the odinworks adjustable buffers with a good spring. Stocks are really personal preference there have been quite a few that i like. The magpul precision lite is a really good one for a more dmr build. I also like the ubi for at a5 buffer system setup. The srt or sopmod are good choices as well when you want something collapsible and cheaper then the ubi.

  3. Honestly the suppressor was the best thing I ever did for my AR. It just makes shooting so much more comfortable even with the gas.

I get they are expensive but 500 bucks for a Polo or Turbo k and you are in bidness.

  4. Great advice for the most part. Vickers slings are good. I use the ones without the padding. They make all kinds of transitions pretty easy.
I've gone with a couple of grips with storage in the grip, but milspec angle.
Stocks? I just put a piece of skateboard tape on the back of the plastic butts to keep them from sliding around and call'er good. 5.56 has no recoil.
If I want a long rifle I'll just forget the can and go with a 20" barrel.

  5. Flatline fiber co slings are less expensive than magpul….. they are great, they are the only slings I use. They also have a dump pouch with a sort of drop mount, u can mount them in the same molle slots that other items are using and the pouch just dangles below such mounted item

  6. The Silencer Co. muzzle system just works. By themselves, the muzzle devices are relatively inexpensive which was a great design decision by Silencer Co. I can buy an Omega and use it on everything from a 5.56 to a 300Win Mag. The adapters are expensive, but not as expensive as buying a new silencer. I use the ASR muzzle system on all my ARs….

  7. First things I change out to on any new rifle to enter the safe are a Magpul K2 grip, Geissele Super 42 buffer system and Maritime bolt catch, Huxwrx QD flash hider (god they are painfully expensive), Radian Raptor, a B5 SOPMOD or Magpul STR whichever is on sale at the moment, a QD end plate, and a M-lok QD cup on any rail that doesn't have steel inserts.
