I dropped the ball (again not my unit and limited time with it) but you CAN reduce the IR laser output in dual high, which makes this a substantially more usable unit. Also, there’s an independent illuminator mode. Sorry for not reading the manual😅

I just picked up a FP OGL from Arms Unlimited and I’m really liking it so far. On high, the illuminator and laser are honestly crazy bright, more than I’ll need most of the time. I’ll probably program it to medium and leave it there.

Realistically, I see myself running Low about 70 percent of the time. It’s solid out to around 150 (depending on light) and totally usable indoors. I’d bump it up to the higher illuminator setting and half-power laser if I’m dealing with heavier light pollution.

I thought about the OGLC, but for the price the illuminator felt pretty underwhelming. I snagged the FP for $2,400, so that made the decision easy and let me finally retire the Holosun.

Yeah, I know it’s basically the South Korean GAON-1 and not U.S.-made, but I care more about performance than the stamp on it. I’ve even seen GAON-1s floating around Facebook in the $2,800 range, so I feel good about where I landed on price. I’m just happy to get a legit FP unit as a Civi that isn’t a $1600 busted up PEQ-15.

I hope eotech reads this so I can tell them HOW BAD THEY FUCKED UP with this drop. Says it’s 1500……annnnnnd now it’s not. Output is meh compared to the Vcsel we get now. What a swing and a miss. Even their new enclosed red dot is literally the vortex defender st enclosed, with a different stamp

Few comments. Not sure about the switches on this one but my two units both have an illuminator only setting. Also you can adjust the power output and make it 50% of the high mode. So basically you get 3 modes (low, standard, high) whereas most lasers just have 2 (low, high). I use the 50% when its no moon like in this video. I use 100% when its full moon. Ive put a few thousand round with one on a suppressed MK18 and no issues with zero. Also im surprised you didnt talk about and show the vis laser during the day. Did you test it? Its absolutely sick and makes it a viable daytime option. Most units like the 5mw PEQ red suck and really arent usable. But the OGL is an exception. Ive been able to consistently use the vis to about 125-150m during daytime. No other vis option comes close except about the UHP DBAL.

After wasting my money on a 1-6 VUDU/DOO DOO, I am not sold on any Eotech products. There are many comprable units on the market for much less money. Having been down the "just as good" budget warrior road, I don't subscribe to price = good or bad. I will pay for quality and performance! Personally, I think Eotech and Aimpoint just charge more because they can. My VUDU lives in a box of all the buget junk I wasted money on over the years.

Ita funny to see that a Holosun has almost the same Performance as a CIV OGL or Mawl but costs 1/3 of the price. There is no reason for some alu and electronic parts costing 3k+. Ita all because GOV Money.

There is a way to turn the laser power down to a "half" mode.

I'm tempted to try one out, Arms Unlimited has had the Standard (FP) version available to the public for awhile now (No restrictions). Maybe they will send me one LOL
