NRA-ILA | New York: Waiting Period Bill On Senate Committee Agenda Next Week

The Senate Codes Committee has a scheduled meeting for next Tuesday, February 24, and the agenda includes legislation once again targeting law-abiding Empire State gun owners. Please contact your state Senator immediately and respectfully request a NO vote on S.362.

S.362 establishes a 10-day waiting period for the purchase of a firearm.   This legislation will do nothing to improve public safety.  Rather, it arbitrarily creates an unnecessary delay for New Yorkers wanting to lawfully exercise their Second Amendment rights. 

S.362 also has no exemptions for gun owners who already legally own and possess firearms.  Furthermore, this bill is dangerous in that it would deny important protections for those with an urgent self-defense need.
