Senate Bill 176 complements the existing firearm preemption statute by providing additional protections for shooting ranges and prohibiting local governments from adopting zoning, land-use, or permitting requirements that are more restrictive than state law.
Specifically, SB 176 prevents counties, cities, and towns from using planning and zoning powers to effectively restrict or prohibit the establishment, use, or maintenance of shooting ranges through excessive or discriminatory regulations.
