Lucas uses the Wilcox RaptIR to range a steel target at 550m and then shoots two different ways – One holding and the other dialing.

  1. This is why I run a Steiner M8Xi. I love exposed turrets. People don’t realize that if you change bullets at all your zero is totally gone…. So I can quickly adjust my zero like It’s nothing. The next thing is, I can adjust zero for 0-40 yards point blank, and change it back to 100 yards at the turn of a wheel. Or adjust it for further. I have memorized zeros for different bullet weights… mil adjustable Exposed turrets with Mil reticle is KING! Never running capped turrets. Maybe if you only shoot 1 load or 1 bullet lol. 😂 PS: I shoot 6ARC.

  2. I'm going to be watching a very specific window of an area and I know all my shots are going to be roughly the same distance, then sure I'll dial.

Otherwise I'm not touchin em. If Target's can pop up at any distance at any time, the last thing I'm doing is spinnin.

  3. Ok but you literally weren't holding 3.9 mills man.
The 3.8 hash was low of center on both shots. You were holding like 3.7 tops. I think more like 3.6 on the first one.

I dial everything, but if you're gonna compare you have to give a fair shake and actually use the right aimpoint, lol.

  4. What a lot of folks dont consider is follow up shots. If im static but expect return fire or i am engaging at multiple distances, then im holding. Same for any return fire situation. Dials are for paper, and pure static.

  5. Set up i so much, in my day we used our brain and a pad and pencil. And those tripods are ridiculous, i guess its the difference of what type of shooting your doing. With all that stuff if you miss you can blame everything else but your self.

  6. Good point about hold being faster, but if you are only taking one shot… makes more sense to use your mil dots to find range, then your shooters wheel to dial it in and make your adjustments cold bore….
