Senate Bill 26-004 expands Colorado’s “Red Flag” laws by allowing health-care facilities, behavioral health treatment facilities, K-12 schools, and institutions of higher education to petition a court for an extreme risk protection order. These expansions invite abuse of the system and threaten due process protections for lawful firearm owners.
