  1. 1st, great choice of optic. Well done! 2nd, it’s pronounced “Lue-Pold”. Not “Leapold”. 3rd, the eye box was designed around the AR platform and the closed lens cap should be flush with the back of the charging handle. Not extending over or beyond the castle nut.

  2. The charging handle doesn’t really matter because if your chambering your first round its not a big deal to spend the extra time to rack the standard sized one.

If you’re on empty and need a reload after that just use the bolt-catch, it’s there so you don’t have to use the awkward charging handles on ARs

  3. I'd say that the best option for a flat top AR is a cantilever mount (facing forward cantilever mount), preferably a precision mount that costs substantially more than a sport mount. This specialized AR setup allows the scope to be set further forward, which is a good setting for suitable eyerelief and solid cheek weld, and a standard charging handle is usable.

The cantilever mount is different from the 2 ring tapered barrel bolt action rifle setup. If the scope is 20 MOA, get mounts that are marked 20 MOA (match them). It is best to mount the scope closest to the barrel as possible, without it touching the barrel. Follow the mounting instructions because the torque and mounting technique are crucial to getting a consistent shot group. Good Luck
