Finally – a veteran of 26 years and SF operations suggesting basic defense arms and kit that should work for prepared civilians. No plugs for 'high end' gear or the myriad of options out there for everything. Sound advice – thanks Jeff!
The guys that come after known gun guys are going to be wearing body armor. Velocity is what matters.
"All you need is a telephone. It's job of the police to protect us. No one needs an AR15"…😂 😂😂 HOW DO THEY SAY THIS AND NOT GET LAUGHED OUT OF THE ROOM!!! I think it's all thought out video. Thank you.
Jeff giving his usual solid advice.
Great video subscribed
You should hand out a copy of the constitution for your viewers.
Maybe teach them about the ACA act.
BEST "Prepared Citizen" channel on YT. I appreciate your advice, and NOT being a gear-snob elitist. Thanks.
Kit changed so much during and GWOT 2.0. But Block II is still clearly relevant. I’m a 12.5 bbl convert, but also run suppressed. I also love A5 buffers, but these are easy upgrades that don’t cost a ton. I’m baby stepping the night vision game with some old school PVS 7s, but until budget allows, it still works. Buy what you can afford and train what you buy.
Aileen Moore towards 10+ mags. We don’t have resupply and should have sustainment on body as well.
Hey Jeff, nice vid. With FRTs being the new hot thing, is there actually a valid reason use for civilians? I tried to think of one but couldn't outside of pure range shenanigans.
Great stuff. Thanks.
Great video, Jeff. Thank you for the wealth of great information. Good to see that my choices pretty much mirror yours across the board. What are your thoughts on keeping a bump or ballistic helmet in addition to the lo-pro plate carrier?
With modern ammo advances there’s just no need for anything over 16 inches.
What I appreciate about modern setups though is how clear it is that the mk12 has impacted what we run today on so many setups.
What stock are you running on your 14.5? The Tan one.
Thank you
You should definitely do a similar AK themed video as well as for those of us who live behind enemy lines. Is it worth going to, say .308 and 10mm if your capacity is limited to 10rds?
Awesome video. Love your content
It’s ridiculous that you’d need to file paperwork for the same tools you had for 2.5 decades. It was fine while you’re cleaning up the mess made by politicians and doing their dirty work… but not when it’s to protect your family or train fellow Americans.
rocking a 14.7 with pinned A2 flash hider, aim point t2, and just started messing with a canted vortex 5x prism after seeing your past videos on canted prisms. Think you are dead on with a slick low profile carrier being the move for a civilian, and a chest rig over the top as needed. Great thoughtful discussion
I actually saw that video from Echo Mike last year I think. Solid stuff and guidance Jeff. How do you feel about ACOGs?
What’s your opinion on the Sig 320 Flux Raider?
You definitely deserve your own action figure!!
1. id still prefer an 20 inch if limited in ammo
2.agree. chest rig belt suspenders is the way to go.
3. nice setup on third
12:38 I think your 300 and 400 are messed up but also the dot sizes matter. This looks like your experience with an Aimpoint comp M2 which has a 4 MOA dot vs the current red dots that are 1 or 2 MOA from Aimpoint and many other brands.
I don't 100% agree with you when it comes to LPVOs but I understand your logic. Even if you only shoot at 100 yards and in you have the zoom feature of your scope which makes things easier to see the target even at shorter distances. You don't have to leave it on 6x or 8x or whatever maximum X you got. You can use the lower magnification options to be able to see the target a bit better through thick brush or lower light conditions or whatever. Also even if you don't use the magnification much it doesn't hurt to have that capability and many LPVO options are comparable to the cost of an Aimpoint pro. Granted Though I don't think many LPVOS are gonna be as durable as an aimpoint well anything, Everything has its strengths and weaknesses.
More or less the same conclusion I came to years ago. Low pro carrier + your choice of LBE worn over top. If you're a geardo you'll probably end up with several different sizes of rigs sitting in the back of your closet. Short(er) barreled GP rifle with a red dot/optional magnifier/white light.
Love this information. Enjoy the channel. Understand some, appreciate it all. Question…. Not trying to highlight my ignorance but have you done, or if not, thought of applying your perspective to the Mini 14 platform for those of us in socialist occupation zones? Not trying to be a smartass, just would very much value your topical thoughts or better yet, your experience applied to same. Thanks.
Hey Jeff! Love your channel. It is nice for us Civilians to get a GWOT Vet's knowledge. I wanted to know your thoughts on whether or not it is worth the extra money spent for a Cold Hammer Forged Mid Length Government Profile Barrel on an M4A1 Block II?
I would buy those army men regardless of them supporting veterans. If they ever wanted to get into making vehicle models to go with their army men, I've got plenty of funny bloodhound stories. Not any hero stories, but my squad leader did have the "taliban" (AUP) pull an April fools joke on him.
Fantastic video & insight. I find that I’m most confident with shot placement while using a triangle fsb. It’s nice to instantly verify your alignment/cheek weld.
& I like your 3rd and 4th set up for the customization with a chest rig, or split rig.
The Obi-Wan-Kanobi of what we actually need to know.
12.5” gang rise up lol
Why no suppressors Jeff? I don’t recall ever seeing one on your civ rifles. Just curious.
