I am strong, knowledgeable, and have mad skills and yet cannot remove the handguard on some occasions so I bought the tool to do it. Also, removing the front sight base and fitting a low profile gas block will require proper pin punches but the effort will permit very easy installation of a free float rail which will improve accuracy instantly.

Just leave it in place🤷‍♂️

Thought about doing this with my PA10,but then I see the upper for sale for $400 and on occasion the entire rifle for $750 on the PSA deal of the day. It's my ED truck rifle, and I just need to make a decision.

I used to run a saint great rifle for the money not real big on mlok but i wasn't putting much on it for accessories. Really liked that handrail tho.

The only hand guards I've used were Daniel Defence and Strike Industries. I was confused when a friend of mine asked me to remove his delta ring hand guard. 😅

You have to have the strength of three men to remove an AR handguard by yourself.

You can also trim the top of the front sight off. This used to be an option years ago. I have done it. It makes a very good pinned gas block. Use high temp header paint.

On my Ruger 556 the delta ring is on threads, so I screw it back and I can take the guard off

Removal is one thing, but installation is really where a delta ring tool really comes in clutch. Combine a stiff spring with a hadguard that's being difficult, and that tool will really pay for itself.

Gave me flashbacks of field stripping my M16 in Basic. I could strip it, reassemble it, and do a function check in under 90 seconds while blindfolded–if I could get that damned ring to move!

Its worth noting, it is substantially easier to remove the handguard than to reinstall it.

Everybody wondered at one point… Can you do it with a cleaning rag? 😎

That's not a carbine length gas system, it is in fact a mid length. The rifle is a pos Springfield Saint. I don't take advice from people who haven't a clue what they're holding.

Must be worked to come off that easy. As a gunsmith it isn't that easy to compress that spring & hold it down.
