The Gun New Shooters Actually Shoot Best #FAFO

Most new shooters think they need a handgun or a full-power rifle for home defense… until they actually shoot one.

They fight the recoil on pistols.
They’re overwhelmed by rifles.
Then they pick up a PCC—and instantly shoot better than the gun they bought to protect their home.

A pistol caliber carbine might be the most underrated defensive gun, not because it’s perfect… but because it’s perfect for people who actually need confidence under stress.

👉 Would YOU use a PCC for home defense? Why or why not?
Let’s talk.

  1. A 9mm PCC is a very nice option however it truly depends upon what you’re most comfortable with. Personally I always have my Glock 23 which has been my sidearm since 1989. I also have trained all of my family members on the PS90 which I have 6 of in various spots throughout my home. I have all of them loaded with the same configuration 10 HDRs, then 10 home reloads (I poor my own lead bullets), then 10 greenies, the last 20 are FMJ black tip because if I ever have to get that far into the magazine shit has really hit the fan. 😉

  2. this is why i start people with a .22 rifle then to my contender same caliber. i let them get the basics and learn how to be safe.
then we move up to what they want to use. at that point they already know they can do it and hav had successes.now it is just getting happy with new tool.

  3. Their reaction to recoil is easily solved with DOUBLE hearing protection. Plugs and muffs.

On my side of the bed is a semi-auto Mossberg 990 Aftershock. My wife has a Stoeger 12 ga Coach gun. We are loaded with #4 buck.

  4. I use a 12Ga magizines fed up to ten rounds. It has a mounted light, an Sig red dot sight. Keep it loaded with #6 shot. Why a red dot on a shotgun??? Because I want every BB to come out of the full choke and find their mark……

  5. I don't know if this qualifies as a PCC but I have a KelTec 2000 with " critical duty 135gr" and a green laser/light combo, and as a backup I have a Glock 17 with same ammo and a "laser Max" red laser and 20 round magazine. I don't know what happened but before the "China virus" the next big thing was lasers first red and then green laser on ALL guns even pocket gun. After the "China virus" lasers were yesterday's news. Now it's"red dots" I tried a red dot and I'm going to stick with lasers, I find just put the dot on target and serve up hot pew pews. Besides that I can't afford to throw away lasers to buy red dots.🤪🤪🤪🤔🤔🤷🤷😁😁😁

  6. I’m old school NFA subgun competitor since late 80s to 2004. Regardless 9mm PCC not as potent as center fire rifles but 9mm PCC suppressed shooting subsonic ammunition offers tremendous defensive advantage especially confronted by multiple home invaders!

Also I’ve lost count how many times I’ve heard another range members or 2/3 gun competitors comment about their home defense go-to ARs! Well, obviously none of them experienced the insane over pressures generated by 223/556 discharge within confinements of home interior!

Ear plugs under ear muffs isn’t enough to stop your eyeballs rattling in your skull on every 556 fired! I shot many of shoot houses over the years with 9mm/45acp subguns and 556 weapon platforms and definitely not what one would assume!

Before choosing center fire rifle caliber for your interior home defensive needs I highly suggest actually participating training in a shoot house first! Granted shoot houses not available on most ranges and most like find an indoor range that has a section for center fire calibers!

If it’s a large indoor rifle range just estimate reduction size of your home’s interior rooms 1 square yard multiply over pressure by 1 decimal increase is a decent estimation.

  7. I usually start off with a Browning 1911c .22 pistol for those that are new to shooting. I did that with my wife and she ended up getting a Kimber Ultra Compact .45 as her first pistol. She will even shoot a .500 revolver.

  8. This has always been my consensus. I understood all the disadvantages and immediately knew it was a "go bag" must have.

Being able to have it in vehicles is another add, not the ideal but with all realized, maybe the most optimal, as a bumb in the night choice. This definitely came in as a top contender.

My choice for most "caught off guard" scenarios" the judge or the governor variations. Using single 0, most likely youll hit 4 of the 9 pellets, 5 × 9 = 45 (roughly 9mm sized pellets for the newbies)…

    👏
