  1. my 308 pistol i built has less recoil than the 5.56 you are shooting🤔 come to think of it so does my ar 10 308 i built. (look on my page😏). It kinda depends on how it is put together that determines the recoil. 308 can be just as smooth as 308.

  2. 308 just puts down any feral on the hunt, thats my shooting – feral animals, Im never that far away from a vehicle that weight both gun and ammo is a problem 308 in about a 130gn pill or a few grans either side is the most versatile rifle whereas 223/5.56 is compromised once you get to wild pig size and up.

  4. The older I get.i like all guns abd I became disabked and funds are not as rich as when I was younger. Many of us have ti use what we got or can get the best ways we can..there is ni best anything ..its using what we can for what we can

  5. Good conversation starter, but somewhat moot. Only one comment (below) picked up on a few of the key niches for each. If I had to choose between the two for 'real world' stuff, it would be the AR-10 – one that is properly maintained, lubed, dust cover open, tuned to its ammo and suppressor and has a good buffer system. Such AR-10s do exist. And I know this is the minority opinion – but I am not alone – it was Chris Kyle's AR of choice. If you have seen what is 'special' about these 'special purpose' rifles, you would know why I say this. And by the way, 7.62 X 51 is not a 'large projectile'' but 5.56 (.22) is 'small' by comparison, and has to be travelling at least 2800 fps to do what it needs to do, consistently, at the terminus. Remember, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king …

  6. Obviously the AR-15 platform is best. The AR-15 is lighter weight low recoil lower priced ammo you can carry more ammo , and more aftermarket support. However the AR-10 is no slouch. with time and training, it could easily surpass the AR-15 in every way except for, cost of ammo. Now if I could afford the ammo. I would run a 12.5'.AR-10/lr.308 all day everyday
