This features a Midstate Firearms ultralight (2lb?) upper they had on sale recently.
Parts:
Upper –
Midstate Firearms Upper – Pencil barrel, 556 NATO 1:7 with A2 flash hider, carbine length gas
Microbest chrome BCG with phosphate extractor
Strike Industries charging handle
Manta MLOK Rail Covers
Sig Romeo MSR2 Green Dot
Lower –
KE Arms stripped lower with CMMG milspec lower parts kit
Overall, not a bad little package. Very handy, shoots decently enough. Accuracy was around 2-2.5 MOA which is to be expected for this kind of thing, not great but not terrible either. Pencil barrels like this tend to heat up quite rapidly making accuracy testing difficult. I tested with only M193/55gr FMJ rounds and the red dot, so your mileage may vary with better ammo and a magnified optic.
I think the upper is actually quite a nice value and very handy. The lack of a forward assist was a nice feature as well to cut weight down even further. The lower however is utterly forgettable and I think not worth bothering with. I bought one as a curiosity and to try since Ian from Forgotten Weapons and his cohorts in the WWSD project thought so highly of them.
This build doesn’t weigh hardly anything and shoots fine, so in that regard I would consider it a success.

Interesting upper and I’ve never handled a k&E lower . I personally don’t care for plastic ar lowers😮😊
