  1. I think the only thing that must be added to the conversation is buying a light for a pistol is much more of a commitment than buying one for a rifle. If this is a light you want to carry, then you'll need a holster that works for that gun and that light. Even holsters that use the light as the retention point still require you to be married to the light, you just get to change handguns. This means your holster company is also dependent on the gun and light you choose. I think that's why you see less handguns with lights. You may have just bought a holster for over $50 and now you realize you need a light. Your options are get a new holster and toss your other one, or spend more money to get another gun with a light and buy a holster for that one. There are less opportunities and more cost to experiment compared to buying a light for a rifle.

  2. I have a stream light protac 2 rail mount, and anything within 100 yards is easy to see at night. Granted target recognition at 100 yards might be a bit slower than higher candela, but if something is out anywhere in front of you, you will see it.

  3. If the gun isn’t setup for NV I’m probably using the Streamlight RM1 or RM2 now, I have 3 of the newer high candela versions so far. It’s just easy to use and not have to worry about tapes or breaking support hand grip to activate.
My HD gun is suppressed and having the can shadow at 6 o’clock is very underrated for that use case.
I still use scout style lights on more “serious” setups.
