Springfield Saint Victor 5.56 AR-15 – Worth The Money?

We picked up the Springfield Saint Victor for around nine hundred dollars and set out to see how it holds up against other AR-15s in the same price range. Out of the box, it includes flip-up sights, a Crimson Trace red dot, a B5 stock and grip, a nickel boron flat trigger, and a mid-length gas system. Recoil is soft, the rifle shoots flat, and the build feels solid overall. Accuracy stayed within the one and a half to two inch range at 100 yards with standard 55 grain loads. The trigger has a clean break but a heavier pull than expected, landing closer to eight pounds.

There are a few things we would upgrade if this were going to be a long-term setup. The muzzle brake is loud and pushes a lot of blast to the sides. The slim rail looks clean but limits mounting space for lights or lasers. For a first-time AR buyer who wants something functional out of the box with room to grow, the Saint Victor covers most of the basics. It holds up well next to options like the PSA Sabre or Ruger AR-556, especially if you find it on sale.

  1. I'd like to see a comparison between a high dollar gucci vs the springfield saint victor or one of the other cheaper ar's. Lets see how much better the gucci is for that high price.

  2. Watchtowers AR I have is phenomenal. This isn’t my real name and I’ve emailed and talked to you on the phone Elliot back when I worked for another company.

Watchtower AR’s are stupid accurate. It’s right there with my blackout defense quantum. Nitride 416R SS barrel. I know they’re in chapter 11 but that’s restructure. Their AR’s are great and work well with triggertech triggers where a G$ (geissele super duty mod 1) will not.
Watchtower is very accurate, good heat treat on the 416R SS and nitride that makes it last longer than most. 1:8 twist 223 wylde. Accurate, triggertech competitive works in it. But the tactical handguard. Race gun in a tactical look for under or about a grand.

I’d drive out so y’all can use mine but I’m the total opposite side of the state.

  3. So happy to see you guys reviewing this rifle! It’s definitely worth picking one up, Im very happy with mine. For the price it’s a great deal. I picked one of these up via the Frontline program for a steal a few months ago on impulse and I agree with everything you guys said, but I will add a note about accuracy. With the right ammo believe it or not I can say with some confidence it is absolutely a 1 MOA rifle. I haven’t tried many different rounds as I’ve only put around 600 rounds through it so far but when I was grouping it with a small variety of ammo I had with me I saw groups ranging from a little over 1 MOA to around 2 MOA. I can’t remember for certain which round printed the best but I believe it was the 75gr frontier that was slightly over 1 MOA. Keep in mind this was at 50 yards indoor on bags with just a Romeo5 red dot, so I’m sure it would have been right around the 1 MOA mark if I had a magnified optic on it. I just mounted a swamp fox 2-12 on it and will be taking it to the range tomorrow with a nice variety of ammo to see what it can really do! The brake is absolutely brutal indoors! I do not recommend indoor ranges with the stock muzzle brake! I had a splitting headache after just 90 rounds but thankfully the range had an A2 birdcage in a junk drawer they gave me for free to save everyone’s brain cells 😂

  4. I used tax money to buy one of these during the COVID/Floyd riots. It was a Little more expensive at the time because of supply and demand. It’s Far better than any of the M-4s or M-16s I used in the Air Force. It shoots very well and very accurate. I’m quite happy with my purchase. Just wish I had bought it sooner and cheaper.

  5. I have the plain old Saint (without the compensator). It came with metal sights and a thin set of hand guards. I bought it for $800. Not a bad deal. As far accuracy, I am getting 1 – 2.5 MOA (depending on the ammo – Mine seems to like Hornady and PMC best (62 grain). I think the barrel is 1/8 twist. The trigger pull is about 6 lbs. with a curved trigger. I'm happy with it.

  6. It's a great gun, I've owned two of them and have had absolutely no problems.
It's not for infantry.. even if it were fully automatic. It's a sporting rifle for recreational plinkers.. and a catastrophic emergency self-defense tool. Plus the upper and lower can tighten on this model and the shooting gets smoother the longer you own the gun. Not for nighttime use.. that muzzle break flash will get so big you can lose your target.

  7. I own both the original SAINT Free Float model and SAINT M-Lok, Picatinny Gas Block model. Both have been rebarrelled with aftermarket barrels by a local gunsmith. One important thing everyone should know is, Springfield Armory has a propietary gas block that is secured by drilling through the bottom of the barrel. Therefore, simply changing the gas block with an aftermarket one will not work. You will have to change the barrel and install an aftermarket gas block.

Secondly, if you wish to have a lighter trigger weight, spending $120, as was mentioned in the video, is 100% unnecessary. Get yourself a Dirty Bird Industries Reduced Power Single Stage Spring Set and a Dirty Bird Industries Reduced Power Trigger Spring. Both will bring the trigger pull weight down to 3.5 lbs and cost you $7 with shipping.

  8. Mine is junk. It runs fine but is the most inaccurate 16inch 556 I have ever shot. I’m talking 8-12 moa groups when shooing 556. It shots 223 a little better. Would not waste my money. Even the budgets brands will shoot better

  9. I bought the original Saint back in early 2020 right before COVID hit, for just $669. It was my very first AR. Have run it through several tactical training courses over the years, and never had an issue. Ergonomics is great. I've bought multiple other higher end ARs and also built my own since then, but for some reason that Saint is still my favorite.

  10. The SF Saint is a good rifle. I have the OG with the BCM Mod 0 keymod furniture. It's been through tons of torture tests. Runs excellent. I'd recommend it for the price point. Remember that just because a cheaper gun shares the same features as a more expensive gun doesn't mean the cheaper gun is "just as good" or that the more expensive gun "isn't worth it" because you can get the same features on the cheaper gun. It's more about the quality control that goes into building those features on the more expensive gun, making sure that they don't eventually break on you. I think I see that assumption made too often on this channel. However the videos are still good.
