A lot of rifle upgrades are gimmicks, but the A5 buffer system isn’t one of them. If you have any doubts, Mike explains what the system is, how it works, and why it’s so good SOLGW uses it in ALL of their rifles. And the best part? It’s an easy upgrade that you can make to your own rifle.

Does it work well with a super safety?
QUESTION: I'm impressed with the AR system and considering installing it on my LWRC DI 11.5 (running suppressed w/ a B&T Rotex-X 5.56 suppressor). Here are a couple elements with my current setup that make me wonder if I should get the entire A5 system or is my enhanced spring and Spike's T2 Buffer good to use with just upgrading to your A5 tube?
1. Swapped my spring and bolt with a Bexar Gen 2 flat enhanced length spring and a Spike's Tactical T2 Hvy Tungsten Buffer.
2. Installed the Law Tactical Gen. 3 Folding Stock Adapter (adding a little length to the BCG travel)
How does it compare to the Armaspec SRS?…
I wonder if my 16" EXO 3 has one of these systems.
Just bought an A5. Hopefully it goes well with my PSA KS-47. Been having trouble with the bolt outrunning the magazine so hopefully this fixes up the issues with it AND give it a smoother feel.
Just run a JP CSC & an adjt gas block.
I love SOLGW! Awesome company with the best warranty in the business.
Can this be used on a .308 M5 build ?
Are the patrol SLs currently listed for sale on y’all’s website have the a5 system?
Changed out all my rifles to A5 and with one or two running the Geissele 42, this habit is never ending !
I dont see the point on changing/upgrading your buffer system unless your planning on suppressing the rifle
Every AR I have is running the A5 or rifle buffer and spring.
I added this to a .308 in the hopes to help straighten out some small issues, in my case it didn't work out.
Alright bro you sold me
Until someone puts an accelerometer on a gun, in a floating test fixture, and publishes the data, A5 is Snake Oil. Prove me wrong.
The A5 system will absolutely work in fixing gassing issues. I have an Aero M5 6.5 creedmoor 24" rifle. It wouldn't cycle with an AR10 carbine buffer (3.8 oz), and you can't go lighter than 3.8 oz. I swapped to the A5 buffer system with an AR-15 carbine buffer (3.0 oz) and the rifle cycled. Opening the operational window with a wider range of buffer weights (in this case, going lighter) helped fixed issues.
Fun fact you can use the longer buffer on a 10.5 pistol and be over 26 for a VFG
🖕ATF
mike knows a thing or two about beating things up, whether it’s buffer weights or his mom, this guy knows!
Very interesting. How does an a2 set up compare?
Might pair well with my POF Rogue, it knocks around a bit.
I suppose it’s either this OR the JP captured buffer/spring, but not both eh?
Is the A5 good for an Ar pistol?
Does this method apply to a unsurpressed 16" barrel? I'm s novice trying to be informed.
Been running an a5 system since early 2014. Not great for full auto rof but everyone that shot my gun (no matter what barrel length) has been impressed by how smooth, consistent, and low recoil it shot.
nah I run a low mass bcg with an armaspec H3 is the goated setup so long as you have an adjustable block. Its been awesome and the weight is moved rearward balancing the whole thing out.
Being far from an expert on firearms but still enthusiastic, how would this affect my 11.5" suppressed SBR? I have an adjustable gas block and tuned to the suppressor so spent cartridges are ejecting around the 3 or 4'o'clock position. I was thinking about getting a Silent Captured Spring but I'm not sure what would be more useful, or if I should even bother using anything other than the factory buffer and springer. I also thought about getting a different BCG as well, something like a KAK with the downvents/dual ejector. The BCG is factory as well. It's a SIG M400 Tread Pistol turned SBR.
I have a LWRC IC SPR (piston), would the A5 buffer system be an improvement/beneficial?
That Driven Arms pistol grip looks fine 🔥 do yall over at SOLGW vouch for their goods? Not knowing much about 3D printing i wonder how strong the pieces are
Wouldn’t underpowered 223 have a difficult time cycling? Like PMC bronze?
Liked and subbed (again because fing YT anti2A)
So once you pick the A5, what weight do you choose? For say a 16 inch medium length gas system?
I put it on all my rifles. I knew i was right about the A5 even when others were starting to doubt it.
I could feel the difference in some cases. Makes it feel like a sewing machine
A5H2, springco green, LMT ebcg, with a 16" barrel. Super soft shooting rifle, and will cycle everything from 55gr .223 to 77gr 5.56. I pair a Geissele airborne handle with it, too, which, combined with the EBCG, results in no gas in your face. It runs well with an A5H3 as well, but I like to know the rifle will run in more adverse conditions.
A5 system is basically a scam. The benefit is so negligible especially in comparison to it's cost in addition length on wrong side of the gun(any additional or less length is a balancing act done on barrel for the use of the rifle/ar-pistol) and cost in USD. You will not see any engineering paper explaining this because spring engineering is quite complicated for such seemly simple concept. The A5 system is also not efficient repair/response/solution to any rifle issue you have which can be pinpointed at the cause, the gas port size, bad chamber, bad headspace, out of spec parts, etc.
There is no scientific video on A5 system for a reason.
Don't be a gullible sucker. Also green spring or is worse piece of shit weak ass spring springCO ever made. It's a embarrassment for such reputable manufacture. The extra power spring they make is amazing if you have the gas port to run it.
Essentially you started making the 'old school' AR10 carbine buffer and repurposed it.
Actually Fucking brilliant.
Irony is I found this video today, after I have already ordered an A5 buffer tube, VLTOR buffer with SpringCo Green buffer spring
Is this the same as Vltor system or are they different or will they interchange parts
I love the A5 buffer so much that i even added on to my retro rifle.
It was already a 16 middy, so an A5 actually felt right.
