Everyone trying to correct this dude don’t know what they’re talking about, yes water is what dissolves rocksett but guess what? Water also dissolves all the junk on a multitude of things like jewelry, coins, watches, tool, engine parts, reloading brass, suppressors, etc however if you think just soaking even that stuff in water or water and detergent will clean it anywhere near as fast or as effectively as a ultrasonic cleaner then you’ve never used one.
Ultrasonic cleaners work by essentially vibrating the water via ultrasonic sound/pressure waves which break up all the junk on whatever you’re cleaning and you can literally see it happen if you just watch a video of one in use especially with stuff like coins because it’ll instantly turn the water brown/black from all the junk and because of that it will force the water into the threads and break up the rocksett far more effectively than just boiling water or heat or water alone the same way it cleans coins and everything else faster and there’s a reason jewelers use them on watches and all sorts of stuff where you physically can’t get in there to clean it and just because you only had to use water you shouldn’t start talking down on stuff you’ve never messed with
For whatever reason whether it’s incorrectly applied or expired or whatever you can find a multitude of people that did all the boiling your little heart’s desire but ended up stripping out the threads. Also I’ve never used a blow torch on rocksett so maybe it works fine and is faster but considering the threads people use rocksett on are fairly fine pich, and rocksett isn’t formulated to melt like or behave like red locktite or anything like that, and heating something past the 2000 degree operating temp of rocksett will soften the metal and at least on some stuff also permanently mess up the metals hardness I’d say with all that combined it’s probably a hell of a lot smarter to use a $60 ultrasonic cleaner over a blowtorch on 2 different parts that likely cost minimum of $200 combined

Thank you! I have an ultrasonic cleaner and didn’t even think of this!
How do you clean off the rockset residue after on the threads of the barrel and inside of muzzle device?

Rocksett is water soluble. A sonic device may speed up the process but the same result can be achieved with lukewarm water overnight.
A torch, a breaker bar and a reaction rod
The heated water is what loosens Rocksett, not vibrations.
1st…
Yeah, cus everyone has an ultrasonic bath😅
Instructions unclear, my rifle said "13.9 p/w" I'm not sure what that means but my muzzle device won't come off no matter how long I boil it.
Rock set is water soluble lol
Vibrations do nothing
Just use a flathead through and turn it.
Blow torch works in 30 seconds
For set screws with loctite a soldering iron works great.
Or heat up the muzzle device with a torch or boiling water.
Or a lighter….
Or if you own a stove and cooking pot, the easiest way is to put the muzzle in boiling water for 30 seconds.
Really easiest way )) need only have sonic 🛀
Where do you get one of those ultra sonic baths ?
I have a psa marauder and they pinned the muzzle with a piece of gas tube
