  1. Just finished and the rest of the video is solid. I agree with most evening else but you forgot Schmidt & Bender and Kahles which are two heavy hitters and ones I have owned and shot with.

  2. I watched the first 2 mins and right off the bat the Schmidt & Bender Short Dot Dot Dual CC shits all over the NF ATACR. There are levels to the LPVO game and and Schmidt & Bender and Kahles are at the top. NF is mid tier. Just be honest. Ok back to the video.

  3. I can’t get behind a 4.5 LPVO. I might as well just go with a magnifier for half the price because by the time you factor in the mount you’re gonna be paying 2 to 3 times the amount

  4. I have, or have had, all of the scopes mentioned here. My last two acquisitions were the PLXc and NX8.

I still don't get all of the hype around the PLXc. ALL of the reviews on the PLXc fail to mention that the huge view that you get, due to the large occular, comes at a cost taxed upon the weight budget that was trying to be met. That cost was in robustness of build. My first suspicion of this came after a phone call to tech support about ring screw torque, wherein I was instructed not to exceed 16 or 18 in-lbs of torque, which sucked since my mounts want 25 in-lbs or more. After that conversation, I began to notice just how thin and almost flimsy things are on the scope. From the caps and turret set screws to the diopter ring.

Yes, it has a very good 1x OR a very good 8x, but not both without adjustment to the diopter. If you set the diopter to a crisp clean reticle image on 8x, you have to readjust the diopter when going back to 1x to get a collimated image.

Reviews on the PLXc also mention how good the eye relief is, but fail to mention how tight the eye box is. The NX8 is twice the scope the PLXc is, at about the same price or for a bit more. I sold 2 PLXc's and kept the NX8. Its just a better piece of equipment.

On top of all of that, the reticle in the PLXc looks great when looking through the scope, but when you get out into a complex environment, all it does is get in the way.

  5. The Trijicon Credo 1-10 is in my opinion better then any of these. You do got plenty of nice scopes up there but that Credo is crazy. The Khales is also insanely amazing. Check them out you will be surprised…

  6. For anyone wondering the NightForce nx8 and ATACR with the newer FC-DMx reticle were kind of revamped compared to FC-MOA or FC-MIL. They improved upon the reticle brightness, and the eye-box shortcomings people tend to bring up. Which, alongside their unmatched durability, I think makes them the best performing LPVO's you can possible buy.

  7. No experience with ffp optics. Question. On 1 power, since the reticle is so small does it basically become a red dot? I want the best lpvo for hunting purposes 0-300 yards. Most shots under 100 yards. I have higher power options for longer range hunting

  8. Can’t take this seriously when there’s no razor but has trijicon, leupold, sig, and gunner Odin.. this was a “imo the best lpvos, that got sent to me” video..

  9. The March 1-10 shorty DFP should be on this list. I love my military contract overrun Nightforce ATACR, Schmidt & Bender and Sig Tango (all military contract overrun) but that March shorty glass and dual focal plane along with weight has dethroned my favorites

  10. I am just not a big fan of FFP for the 1x setting on most LPVOs. I would like to see more FFP options use some kind of large ring like the EoTech that vanishes as you zoom in to reveal more long ranged information. If it was not for the price tag and the buttons rather than a dial I would love to get a Vudu, and from what I have seen on the market most of the ones that copy that are some of the cheap stuff made by who knows. I just feel the illuminated segment that makes up the dot at 1x is often too small (1 or 2 moa), and too often at full magnification has too much going on for an illuminated section, and sometimes does not even have a true center at max. I also like the idea of the Trijicon and not needing to ever worry about batteries but with it only being a 1-4 and second focal plane there are so many other options on the market now that come in at half to one third the price that are 1-4 SFP that actually have good 1x illumination if you are willing to put up with batteries. I also feel if you are using a 1-4 you may be better off with a flip up magnifier on a QD mount and a good red dot. Though that can add some unwanted bulk and if it is going to mostly be to the side all the time can snag on stuff.
Which brings me to a couple things I have always wondered with LPVOs.
Are they intended for use primarily at distance and some times up close, or primarily up close and sometimes at distance? If the first option then the tight FFP options make sense but if the second option then they really seem to sacrifice usability at close range with a generally tight eye box compared to most red dot options and with a generally small illuminated dot for that eye box at close range. Except for a few SFP options on the market that do seem to be designed to work mostly as a red dot and then give you that option of range.
This goes into the second thing I find strange is the amount of canted red dots I see mounted next to LPVOs is to about the same degree if not more often than with actual scopes which tells me people are aware that it is slow to get back to 1x and that the dot at 1x often sucks compared to a proper red dot. So if you are using a canted red dot for close range and the LPVO for longer shots why not use a dedicated small scope like a scout scope or a fixed magnification site with the canted red dot?
If you are going to mostly use your LPVO at max magnification and it is a 1-4 or a 1-6 and you are going to have a canted red dot for quick close shots than why not just go with a cheaper second focal plane and let the LPVO live at 4x or 6x and treat it like an ACOG or Elcan? It would be cheaper than either of those options that is for sure.
And finally as the glass is getting more clear and the price is coming down on 1-8 and 1-10 FFP LPVOs I actually think they make more sense on a hunting rifle than a battle rifle these days as it is really easy to start somewhere around 1x to spot your target and slowly zoom in while tracking it and then break the shot at the right moment. Much easier to do with an LPVO than with a traditional scope IMO any way. But, you dont really see this as the case either due to "tradition" or just lack of awareness of the benefit of hunting with an LPVO.

I dont currently own any LPVOs but have looked through several. I will likely own one some day but I have just not found the right one for me and my needs as of yet. So until then I will continue to use red dots and magnifiers on my "battle" rifles and scopes on my bolt guns despite mentioning I think LPVOs would be great for hunting rifles. Which does mean my first LPVO likely will be for one of my bolt guns unless I just feel like slapping one on my next AR build.

  11. I watch a lot of gun channels and while this channel is not my favorite style of content (too Gucci for me), but the video production on this channel is outstanding. Maybe the best I've seen on any gun channel.
