  1. That dissipator has a carbine length gas system with a rifle length sight base. It can have either carbine or rifle length buffer systems and stocks. A cut down rifle is a carbine with a rifle length gas system and stock/buffer system. It's the dissipator's forerunner. The dissipator was made because the buying public didn't trust the reliability of a cut down rifle despite it working for years with lend-lease A1 rifles in police departments. Either is an excellent choice for people who want the best sight picture possible with irons. Arms inc ,pri and others make folding front sights compatible with dissipators and cut down rifle barrels with the .750 gas journal…any .750 gas journal barrel really but this topic is cut down rifles and dissipators.

  2. The AR- 15 was invented first. The M-16 was modeled off of the AR-15 and marketed to the military hence M-16. What's the main difference between the AR-15 and the M-16? Full auto fcg and an auto sear. The genius of the AR-15. Is you can mix and match the weapon to your tastes. And now you can get it in different calibers and still use standard AR-15 magazines. 5.56, .224, 300bk, and 350 legend just to name a couple.
