Bills in the Judiciary Committee:
Legislative Bill 155 extends castle doctrine to apply to motor vehicles.
Legislative Bill 539 changes provisions relating to handgun purchase requirements by repealing Nebraska’s firearm permit-to-purchase. Expediency is more important than ever when it comes to the right of self-defense.
Bills in the Banking, Commerce, and Insurance Committee:
Legislative Bill 686 prohibits government entities and officials from keeping certain lists relating to the ownership of firearms and prohibit using merchant category codes to distinguish firearm retailers. This is an important protection for gun owners, protecting private purchasing data from abuse by third parties. For more information, click here.
Legislative Bill 687 adopts the Firearm Industry Nondiscrimination Act, prohibiting public contracts with individuals or companies that are boycotting certain industries, including those that engage in or support the manufacture, distribution, sale, or use of firearms. This bill would require those who contract with the state to disclose if their policies discriminate against the firearms industry.
