  1. For mounting systems I always like the clamp-style system, as opposed to set-screws. Just like Hornady reloading die collars that clamp as opposed to RCBS set-screw collars. Agree or disagree?

  2. No matter which gas block you buy, make sure it isn’t made from aluminum. Steel only. The hot gases are corrosive and will eat the block port on the barrel making it larger until there is leakage.

  3. You could've got a steel adjustable gas block for less than the YHM to have kept the comparison more even keeled. I like to dimple my cheap adjustable GBs, which I bought a 10 pack for like $100, so I have them on everything.

  4. If the set screws didn’t perfectly align the gas block to the barrel port, the gas block is garbage. Why praise that as quality? Every gas block that is designed with set screws aligns perfectly or they should be making lawnmowers instead.

  5. I am a first-time builder of an AR-15 nice to be able to see how you installed the pin and tube in to gas block showing how whole would lineup in the gas block before you put it on the barrel just saying

  6. I wish these videos were more specific, call outs, that is dimensioning, isn't clear. "This hex wrench" that "hole" it's unlikely your audience are engineers' but context really defines the subject especially highly technical content. Thanks for that.

  7. Just got my suppressor in and fired several out of it ,need to put a adjustable gas block on 2 of my ar rifle. What adjustable gas block do you suggest the suppressor is a 36m silencerco. Need for a 223 556 and a 762×39 rifle

  8. Your premise that using a adjustable gas block on the Intermediate gas system is good, simply doesn't hold water. An intermediate gas system is going to have less PSI to the system than the Mid Length. An adjustable gas block cannot add gas, only take away gas. You even note that cycling can be an issue with the Intermediate system, that's because its running lower pressure and you end up with an Under Gassed rifle at times.

  9. Working on my 6th build. This is by far going to be my best build ever. Everything I’ve learned about building my own and different parts over the last 7-8 yrs. It’s all going into this build. This build is going to carry the iconic Trijicon Acog. A sight I’ve always wanted but could never really afford. Been saving up. I’m ready. Parts are widely available at the moment. It’s time to sit down and make a list. Put my vision on paper.

  10. Thank you for the video. I am going to be in the process of building a new upper. I do see the advantage of an adjustable gas block and your recoil being less. That anything put on the end of your barrel changes pressures also. Many of us have never built guns or would understand how things work with out videos like your. Thank you.

  11. WAIT! He said he takes his gas blocks off on an hourly basis? WHO THE FU@K DOES THAT???
I have never met anyone who takes their gas block off unless changing the hand guard or for some other reason something can't be done without removing it!
Hell, I might as well weld mine in place because I'm most likely never taking it off!

  12. Don't buy the Aero LPGBs. The hole spacing doesn't work with any commercially available dimple jigs because it is a odd ball at .485".

    .400" .425" .450" .470" and .500" center to center

They couldn't just go up to a even .500" or go down to a .470".

Now don't get me wrong you can still get it right with some patience and A LOT more time involved. But for those of us who don't like to mess with it or waste time it is best to stick to ones that your barrel dimple jig has. They got me on 2 of them but I won't be buying anymore. I prefer BCM, Yankee Hill and Superlative Arms much better. For beater budget build NBS work ok and are cheap.

  13. KB I’ve built many AR’s for myself and others. I never buy expensive GBlocks and I shoot suppressor on all. And I’ve never had the 1st issue at all. So it’s one thing I’m not sold on. But good vid

  14. Great series! Don't know if you came up with a name for the budget rig (haven't watched the rest of the series yet), but I think "The Dude" would be a cool name. Jeff Bridges agrees with me!

  15. If someone wants to change out their AR15 barrel with a longer barrel, does this usually require a different length gas tube? Or do most replacement barrels have the gas hole drilled in the same distance away from the chamber? Also would love to know what parts are different on a floated barrel system which I understand can lend itself to greater accuracy. Thanks for your video.
    🇺🇸 😁👍

  16. I will stick with my Gas Piston conversion of my Colt AR, I don't have gasses coming into my action unlike the Gas tube system and I don't need gas rings on my bolt. My AR runs cleaner and cooler. runs like an AK !!!

  17. If you're decreasing the gas by adjusting the flow to reduce recoil, does this put one in territory where some ammunition will not work? In other words, should you adjust from zero until it cycles, then open it up even further so the rifle will cycle most ammunition?
