SO IN ALL TRUTH!! I figured out this exact way of doing this on my own about 5 years ago through trial and error 🤣, this is the first time I’ve seen that someone else has figured it out too! I’m sure I’m not the only one! I was building my first of 3 lowers and after about 20 minutes farting around trying to figure out how to install these without having that particular tool I finally came up with this and I’ve been using it since!!!!!!

By far the best simplistic video without all the special tools

can some tell me the purpose of the spring and detent

Back when I did mine I used an exacto blade to hold the detent back, the pivot pin slipped past the exacto blade easy and then I rotated the pivot pin to engage the detent

just did this but with a pair of forceps in one minute. You're an elite level boss for this even 7 years later

Wanna know an even easier way? Take your damn gloves off and use your fingers 😂 I can assemble an AR in like 8 minutes with a small hand vice for the actual pins and all the detents I can do with my fingers .
