For more details: Hammer being used is a Geissele G2S with a standard weight hammer spring, so I don’t think it’s abusing the firing pin/firing pin return spring. I’ve tried lighter hammer springs and they don’t reliably fire the heavier rim on a 22 cartridge, so I’ve opted to stick with a standard weight hammer spring.
CMMG has replaced these springs for me under warranty, and I have replaced them (as needed) every 500-750 rounds or so.
I’ve got thousands of rounds through mine an never replaced it. Only malfunctions I get are the cases get stuck up in the charging handle bc I don’t have the reliability kit yet
Hey man. I just bought a used cmmg 22 kit online. It’s having issues ejecting. That’s the only problem it has. If I can just get it to eject correctly it would be amazing. Do you know anything they could help?
I've not experienced this personally except long ago with a Mariin Model #60, that had a really high round count through it (approximately 8,000. – 10,000 rounds). The firing pin spring showed similar fatigue.
Appreciate your FYI video, as I own one of these Adaptors to, but I've only 300 to 400 rounds through mine. So it seems a wise idea to keep a couple of these on hand. Other than this, I'm very pleased with CMMGs product, and regret not investing in one years before I finally bought one. The range I'm a member of is caliber restricted being indoors. No CF Rifle. Had I bought one earlier, learning to run thr AR platform would have been far easier. It's a 2 hour drive to the nearest outdoor range.
Many older designs have floating firing pins and it's rarely an issue. Considering that your AR22 is a range/training piece, you'd probably be fine with the dead spring.
