Just two days before the Hawaii legislative session is set to adjourn, both the Senate and House chambers passed Senate Bill 2845 that prohibits individuals under the age of 21 from purchasing or possessing ammunition. The latest version of SB 2845, as amended by the Conference Committee, provides very limited exceptions to the new age restrictions for ammunition and will now take effect upon passage. SB 2845 will now head to Governor Josh Green for his signature. NRA members and Second Amendment supporters are encouraged to contact Governor Green and urge him to veto SB 2845.

SB 2845 prohibits persons under the age of 21 from purchasing or possessing ammunition, with limited exceptions. Persons engaged in the sale, transfer, or distribution of ammunition would be required to verify the age of the recipient or face criminal penalties. This legislation follows a similar tactic taken by other anti-gun states, pushing laws that discriminate against young adults from lawfully exercising their Second Amendment Rights.

Once again, please contact Governor Green and urge him to veto SB 2845!
