The Ruger take down AR15 was unique but ultimately flopped.

I wish I could find a decent condition and reasonably priced one, they were doing short stroke gas piston before it was cool. Both the 5.56 and 7.62×51 are on my watch list on the used market. They are soft shooters and more accurate than I am, what happened to that Ruger, the one that took chances, like the sr9 and sr45, their attempt at a poly framed double stack 1911, under rated guns, especially if you got one of the good ones or got yours fixed.
Great rifle just the whole take down concept didnt really work. Sure remove the barrel but that only saved about 3 maybe 4 inches. That was the main issue is it really didnt takedown very much.
I remember when that came out, the AR forums were mad why Ruger did not go with "milspec" on the finishes, metallurgy, etc. at the time when "milspec" was the market craze.
on another note, it could have been an "infantry automatic rifle" with that barrel switch feature.

Key mod hell ……what's the point of a barrel that comes off and leaves the forearm? It don't really give much savings in space
I feel like the AR15 is already a take down gun
You look so proud of that malfunction π
Designed by Irish inventor Gim Micky
Did it jam at the end? Lol
So whatβs the point?
Keymod is no longer used?
While it never beat out M-lock, for good reason, I still use it.
Why change my handgaurd for no reason?
Tell me about keymod not being used these days. Got a light for my rifle and had to order extra hardware to attach it bc it came with M-Lok hardware
Cool
I had one of the original Ruger SR556 piston rifles. Was pretty cool. I think this is based on the design with a take down barrel.
Lmao the smile and pose at the end
Hahaha jam
Mac always looks happiest when he has something interesting to play with π
My AR has a key mod hand rail on it . Oh well little out of date but what can you do lol
What's up with the neutered mag capacity? Is that why this oddball malfunctioned on the last round?
The handguard needs to come off with the barrel like 10/22 takedown and PC carbine and Charger.
Is that the CZ Shadow 2 compact youβre carrying? π

π It jammed! look at the end, bcg is either in battery nor locked back=malfunction!

Tim, you may have to do a run-through of your collection, I can only imagine how long that video would take to shoot.π
I remember when IV8888 did his collection.
Did it jam? Was definitely out of battery, but not locked back on the bolt catch.
A solution? To a question no one asked? π
Canβt believe keymod is βoldβ nowβ¦.
Where do i get that shirt?
Yeeep I tell u what
That is one heck of an odd duck, i had completely forgotten about these. I'm curious now what other oddities you have
Love the shirt π
More like a quick change barrel rifle than a take down gun.
Glad Arisaka defense exists otherwise it be hard to find good keymod attachments
Helpful. Pointing out the quirks you might not consider. Not a deal breaker, if a good deal can be made. Thanks.
Barrel swap allowed caliber change
