Troy ambidextrous magazine release. This is a review of and installation for the Troy ambidextrous magazine release for the AR-15 rifle. The Troy ambi mag release in my opinion is a must have for left handed AR-15 enthusiasts.

  1. its a simple process. remove old. install new. adjust for proper function. ive never needed to take pictures of a mag catch/release but to each his own.

btw the Troy ambi mag release is great. i love mine. they will marr the receiver under the button however. if this is a concern, cut a small rectangle of thick mylar sheet or other material and glue it to the receiver behind the mag release button. i cut a piece of the tough plastic cover sheet of a Mead 5-star notebook. has worked perfectly for over 2,000 rounds so far with no marring.

  2. I installed a troy ambi mag release on my colt 6920. when i performed a function check using a p-mag i found that it would not retain the mag securely when pulling on the mag i could pull it out. i had to run the ambi mag way far in exposing allot of thread. have you tried inserting a loaded p-mag then doing the "push pull" function check.
