Why I Chose: Vortex Ranger 1000 Rangefinder
The Ranger 1000 is a piece of sh#t, it has a two second delay when ranging. While archery hunting elk, this is unacceptable! Called Vortex and the guy said all 1000 models did that.
I bought one of these, and like all my Vortex products, it did not perform. I returned it and was given a replacement. The replacement is still in the box. I know it isn't gonna work. The original had to be locked on a tripod to range, and was incapable of ranging a 100 foot wide flat cliff face at about 600 yards. Conditions have to be absolutely perfect and inside of 500 yards. Avoid these things.
I'm hoping for this years shot show a updated model of this will be released. hoping for one that will reach out a little further and 7x magnification.
Love the Ranger 1000. Use it for archery and plans to use it for long range. I agree, at some point a range finder that could reach out further could provide competition for the Leica models with more range. Since I am here, I also love my Viper PST ERB-1 6-24×50 with FFP reticle. Amazing scope that happens to be very affordable as compared to competitors. the warranty offered by Vortex is unmatched. Keep up the good work.
