  1. This is easily the best video of its type I've seen yet. Jeff not only talks about the function of each component, he discusses the "how", the "why", and the options. This is backed up with basic info on how to identify your needs, when you may need it, and where you may need it.At the end of the day, we're responsible for our own choices, as well as our own actions. Note that nowhere in the video is there any self aggrandizing, self promoting B.S. Just solid information you can use to help you make your own decisions, and your own choices. Everybody who's spec'ing out an AR should watch this video at least twice.

  2. Great video! My carbines are set up very similarly although I don't have a can, at least not yet. I'm more Meal Team than SEAL Team so I don't need a lot of crap on mine!😂 A WML, RDS, VFG and a sling and I'm good to go. Keep a good stack of mags and enough 77gr stuff to keep a few mags loaded and you're good to go for HD.

  3. I use robust pistol lights on my ARs because they are much lighter. The idea that you need over 1000 lumens and a pressure switch is just tacticool nonsense the reality is 99.9999% of us will never need to rapidly turn our lights on and off. You're going to turn it on check the threat, engage end of story. We aren't in anti terror teams clearing buildings for hours.

  4. Great video on a clean, simple approach to a rifle setup. My only point of contention would be iron sights. Spending money on iron sights can often keep someone from buying a better quality optic. For example: A holosun 510c plus iron sights is about the same price as an Aimpoint PRO, which is a significantly better quality red dot.

  5. 300bo is designed for 8" barrels. Obviously you can go smaller but, the longer the barrel on 300bo, you should of chose a different caliber. I have 7 AR's and my go to AR is a 14.5 with a can. It looks like a 22" barrel. That why I'm dropping down to a 12.5" barrel for my go to AR and the new patrol length gas system. With my new combat suppressor ill have an overall length (barrel + can) of 16.5 which is perfect. 12.5" AR's are hitting out to 500yds now. Its nice to see a legit warrior without a $1000 Aimpoint and Scalerworks 4" riser combo. I'm picky about my triggers. Mil-spec is garbage. 8lb pull, I know why but only Geissele or Hiperfire goes in my AR's. I've built 21 buy the end of the year (in a three year span). Surefire cans……SMH. people there are other cans out there that are cheaper and just as reliable as SF.

  6. My setup is more for home defense.
    10.5" barrel (pistol configuration)
    .223 Wylde for versatility
    Surefire light
    Red dot & iron backups
I didn't really care much for the 1/8 twist ratio or length because it's a home defense system and even in a shtf scenario I'm not planning to be engaging, more of a evasion and clearing tool to keep my family safe and well.
