Yeah, it’s a good optic. Is it perfect? No. But the Primary Arms Nova SLx is probably the new defacto budget scope, ticking all the right boxes.

  1. First of all thank you for the inside it was very educational and I would definitely be purchasing a Nova as I was looking for a budget lpvo that wasn't too expensive just to get my feet wet. Secondly… you should also seriously consider editing out the audio on all those gunshots if you ever make a similar video using range footage

  2. I know this was shot in Utah, Because of the mountains? No. Because of the terrain? No. Because of the scenery? No.

I know that apartment complex in SLC. Never lived there or had friends just oddly specific.

  3. After being on waiting lists, finally got a hold of the Primary Arms Nova SLx. For the price that I paid, agree that it is a great value for a budget scope. Might look into upgrading the throw lever and adding the shake awake if the scope holds up well.

  4. For someone building their first "pseudo-SPR AR" with budget and end result features in mind, would you in any scenario recommend bypassing the LPVO route altogether and topping the rifle off with something like a Primary Arms Gen III Prism 5×36 fixed power/ACSS reticle with it's included top pic rail for a piggyback Red Dot ? If looking for minimal magnification with the plans to mount a piggyback out of the gate, (as a beginner) would you go LPVO + piggyback RD or Fixed power + piggyback RD ? especially with the mounting all taken care of for both optics out of the box with the Prism 5x to the rifle and included home for a piggyback….
The fixed power + piggyback RD seems like an easier solution than even something like a Vortex Strikefire II + swing-in magnifier. However, I could be completely lost on this topic, hence my question.

  5. First off – beautiful dog. Arent they all? Anyway…………..

So basically the scope is a $340 scope. Nothing more nothing less. The masses were screaming for a daylight bright dot from PA and they provided it.

I had this scope and sent it back. It was cheap feeling. As outlined in the video the turrets are horrendous. I also have the Vortex PST Gen 2 and in my opinion – save the extra $$ and get the Vortex. This coming from a huge of PA, and not so much of Vortex.

When we get into the 80% of X for 60% of the price type comparisons it makes it sound like the cheaper item is the better buy. Its usually not.

The same argument was made about the PST Gen 2 and the Razor 1-6. Vortex said the PST is 85% of the Razor for 50% of the price. The Razor is a far superior optic, but the $600 difference is much different than the $200 difference between the Nova/PST.
