  1. With the issue of weight and bulk being what it is concerning .308 barrels, I almost have to wonder if it'll be the caliber that gets me to buy a bullpup when i'm ready for a DMR. Tavor-7 with a 20", maybe?

  2. Think of having a suppressor on as adding back the length in the barrel you left off, but with an additional benefit. Suppressors do help increase velocity on shorter barrels, so the loss of 100 fps is actually less & in my opinion negligible at that point.

  3. Well, with no supressor I would go up to 24" and get a 6.5 creedmore for the absolute most advantage over the cal and setup of the rifle. For practicity I would go for the 18" and the supressor with a 308.
And, I would handload any of them to get the most out of it. The thing here is… I think an AR-10 in a civilian environment is primarly to have a familiar AR setup in a sport environment that calls for something more than a 556. So, I guess a 24" 6.5 creed is the way to go and maybe get the 18" upper for the 308.
After all, the AR-15 is the one to use for home defense, so the AR-10 will be for hunting or target shooting.

  4. I don't know why anyone would bother with unobtanium rounds that won't be available to buy when you need them. The only cartridges worth considering are 22lr, 9mm, 5.56, 7.62 nato, with an honorable mention to .40sw and .45 acp.

And yeah, you might be able to stock up, but how much money are you gonna spend and how fresh is that stash going to be in 15 years?

  5. An ar10 only weight 1.5-2 lbs more than Ar15. And is only 1.5-2 inches longer than Ar15. My bow weights 8.1 lbs and is 49 inches tall. I got the 308 12.5 pinned. It works good in the tree stand. 308 does nothing great, but does a lot good enough.

  6. Here in SE Texas i see more Creedmore on the shelf than .308, it’s weird because i would expect a NATO round to be more plentiful, but i guess popularity has overweighted. Me personally i don’t like either caliber and have seen creedmore loose a bunch of deer, puro pinche low fence hunting with prove the point.

  7. well if that gun is not an Armalite it's not an AR10 it's just a 308AR there is a difference this needs to be clarified, when building AR10 parts do not fit DPMS pattern rifles this NEEDS TO BE MADE CLEAR !!!

  8. Barrel length will be determined by your preferred cal, which is determined by your mission. Twist will come into play depending on the cal and barrel length. What do you need to accomplish? Choose barrel length, and cal, then twist to accommodate that.

  9. the best barrel length highly depends on the powder charge and power type IN the cartridge , best to adjust the powder charge to the barrel , at least for ideal performance and depends on the intended use of the rifle as to which barrel and cartridge load is best

  10. If you’re talking about hunting rifles, 6.5 creedmore is only really superior if you’re hunting much longer ranges. Personally I typically hunt with 30-06, but also .308, and the range we push out to typically does not exceed 400 yards and for my purpose, these two rounds are more than adequate. I guess 6.5 creedmore would be better for drop at that distance, but not by much.

  11. To all of the people saying there's no 6.5 ammo.. do you not know how to Google? I can find it all day. Is it expensive? Yes. But you don't choose 6.5 over 308 if price is a worry.
Only thing that REALLY sucks about 6.5 is the short barrel life. That's uhh, not very good.
