I own a 20 acre farm in the Great Smoky Mountains of TN…and I shoot a S&W M&P 10 in .308. It takes care of all my needs
Says 20” barrel is too long….so instead I’ll buy an 18” with an 8” can at the end
Jesus is king
If you have a 6.5 then it's not an AR-10, you have an AR platform 6.5. Plain and simple
308 win and 16" – for CQB 20-22 – for DMR game
It's an LR308…AR10 is armalight specific
I run a 16 inch 308 with 180 gr federal fusion
With the issue of weight and bulk being what it is concerning .308 barrels, I almost have to wonder if it'll be the caliber that gets me to buy a bullpup when i'm ready for a DMR. Tavor-7 with a 20", maybe?
Think of having a suppressor on as adding back the length in the barrel you left off, but with an additional benefit. Suppressors do help increase velocity on shorter barrels, so the loss of 100 fps is actually less & in my opinion negligible at that point.
18” AR10 in .243 Win. Dang good availability in that round here in the south.
check out the difference in the size of their heads
What is the rifle in the thumbnail?
.308! have a 20" barrel for range, 16" for CQB. done.
I like the longer barrel for the power , but would like a smaller package (Bullpup ), just wish they have a better trigger
.308/AR10 is a battle rifle…20+" long is not an issue for that mission?
Well, with no supressor I would go up to 24" and get a 6.5 creedmore for the absolute most advantage over the cal and setup of the rifle. For practicity I would go for the 18" and the supressor with a 308.
And, I would handload any of them to get the most out of it. The thing here is… I think an AR-10 in a civilian environment is primarly to have a familiar AR setup in a sport environment that calls for something more than a 556. So, I guess a 24" 6.5 creed is the way to go and maybe get the 18" upper for the 308.
After all, the AR-15 is the one to use for home defense, so the AR-10 will be for hunting or target shooting.
I think if the change from 16" to 18" is insignificant, then going from 18" to 20" should just be two times insignificant.
every inch matters . . just ask your wife
sass rural NW Oregon. I just like all kinds of guns. Just got a Ruger AR-10
I miss Ole boy
The butt Stock on this rifle AR- 10 you have here what brand is it a Magpul??
I went .308 and 20in barrel
Barrel life is the deal breaker for the 6.5 for me.
Creedmoor makes you bleed more…jk
Nice looking riffle at the end. What’s the name of that trigger ? And what buffer system ( weight ) would you recommend for a 18” 308 m5?
I just finished up a 24in 6.5 build. Can't wait to hit the range
Had a Scar17, Had a POF308, sold both and 2 years later bought a Gen3 PSA AR10 is where it’s at, damn trust me…. And FYI I do shoot, 450 yards-700+ yards regularly. Scar17 was nice POF eeee for the money though PSA GEN3
22inch minimum 24inch optimal
6.5 creed is great. But, .308 Winchester has always been easier to find on shelves. It’s more affordable.
24 inch 300 win mag
I don't know why anyone would bother with unobtanium rounds that won't be available to buy when you need them. The only cartridges worth considering are 22lr, 9mm, 5.56, 7.62 nato, with an honorable mention to .40sw and .45 acp.
And yeah, you might be able to stock up, but how much money are you gonna spend and how fresh is that stash going to be in 15 years?
An ar10 only weight 1.5-2 lbs more than Ar15. And is only 1.5-2 inches longer than Ar15. My bow weights 8.1 lbs and is 49 inches tall. I got the 308 12.5 pinned. It works good in the tree stand. 308 does nothing great, but does a lot good enough.
What ammo would you recommend for range/target practice for an ar10? Mine keeps jamming.
it was not informative, a lot of useless chatter and product advertising 👎
I like to try one in12.5 just for range plinking. Possibly Truck Gun? In 308. What y’all think?
Here in SE Texas i see more Creedmore on the shelf than .308, it’s weird because i would expect a NATO round to be more plentiful, but i guess popularity has overweighted. Me personally i don’t like either caliber and have seen creedmore loose a bunch of deer, puro pinche low fence hunting with prove the point.
300 win mag 20” barrel
Aero Precision AR 10 doesn’t last 5,000 rounds without multiple catastrophic malfunctions. Just get something that won’t break.
well if that gun is not an Armalite it's not an AR10 it's just a 308AR there is a difference this needs to be clarified, when building AR10 parts do not fit DPMS pattern rifles this NEEDS TO BE MADE CLEAR !!!
6.5 creedmoor is a little too fast for anything under 200 yards?? Lmao where do people come up with this stuff?
4:10 over barrel suppressor will fix that problem
Which AR-10 wood grain pistol grips are those? Such a badass color combo
Barrel length will be determined by your preferred cal, which is determined by your mission. Twist will come into play depending on the cal and barrel length. What do you need to accomplish? Choose barrel length, and cal, then twist to accommodate that.
the best barrel length highly depends on the powder charge and power type IN the cartridge , best to adjust the powder charge to the barrel , at least for ideal performance and depends on the intended use of the rifle as to which barrel and cartridge load is best
If you’re talking about hunting rifles, 6.5 creedmore is only really superior if you’re hunting much longer ranges. Personally I typically hunt with 30-06, but also .308, and the range we push out to typically does not exceed 400 yards and for my purpose, these two rounds are more than adequate. I guess 6.5 creedmore would be better for drop at that distance, but not by much.
To all of the people saying there's no 6.5 ammo.. do you not know how to Google? I can find it all day. Is it expensive? Yes. But you don't choose 6.5 over 308 if price is a worry.
Only thing that REALLY sucks about 6.5 is the short barrel life. That's uhh, not very good.
I have a Stag AR10 with an 18" and while I love the rifle, it is obnoxiously heavy
6.8 with a 20” barrel
am i too late to enter for the SASS?
