Last week, the Delaware General Assembly adjourned. The anti-gun legislature passed two bills to expand gun free zones. Legislation to impose a Maryland-style “handgun qualified purchase card” and a handgun transfer registry passed the Senate but was stopped in the House. A Constitutional Carry bill was also heard in the Senate but was never released from committee. Below is a list of gun control bills that passed, and extreme anti-gun legislation on which NRA-ILA worked to defeat with pro-Second Amendment lawmakers, grassroots activists, and our state affiliate, the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association.

NRA will be back in Dover for the 2024 session. Meanwhile, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Delaware.

HB 201 w/ HA 3 & SA 3 – Bans possession of a firearm on school property or buildings. Amendments removed the 1000’ radius and other venues that are not a physical school building.

HB 202 w/HA 1 – Bans firearms in state polling places. It was amended to exclude multiuse buildings.

SS1 for SB 2 Maryland-style “handgun qualified purchase card” and a handgun transfer registry. It passed the Senate and was held in House Appropriations.

SB 85 Constitutional Carry. It remained in Senate Judiciary.
