  1. @3:10, dude, I can tell you right now what would fix that malfunction. Use the upgraded, filled in, charging handle from CMMG or simply fill a standard one in with epoxy. Works an effing charm. The little .22 cases get caught in the gas key slot on the standard handles and get hung up.

  2. About a year and a half ago, I built my first AR (80% lower and PSA kit). I had never owned a rifle before and only shot one about 35 years earlier. I build in 5.56 so it can eat the most common rounds that will be available if….. needed. Got the CMMG .22 conversion for cheap training and to teach new shooters (I never had experience with rifles, but carried a handgun for work for about ten years)
Love this kind of video – will watch the second part too – wondering if you did any comparisons of accuracy in a 5.56, depending upon twist rates or bullet weights of the .22? That would interest me too. My 5.56s are in 7 and 8 twist rate and handle 55 grain .223 fine. (I am assuming any lack of perfect accuracy is my own fault, plus price point for parts)

  3. Just bought one myself.

I took it to the range and put it into my upper that has a 14.5(1:8) Faxon pencil barrel. That upper has a Primary Arms 3x prism.

The only malfunction I had in about 500 rounds was 1 failure to fire that was the cartridge, hit it 6 times in the rifle and a Glock 44.

It almost matched my zero. I was hitting steel regularly out to 100 yards. At the 135 I could tell the bullets were tumbling because I was hitting steel about 1/3 of the time and the holds were erratic and hard to predict.

  4. I have never had a failure with auto match in my ar22 rifles I have 3 one bearcreek upper one cmmg conversion and an ATI .22. Now that I have opened my fat mouth let the SHTF!

  5. It’s kinda sad folk had to be reminded about range hot/cold but it’s very important. I’ve seen a man just start walking off onto the range with 15+ people shooting and luckily for him everyone else there was on their p’s and q’s. Never seen anything like it never want to again

  6. Finally got my first can and tested it out today. Fucking LOVE it.
Pro tip, double check your ear pro when you switch to a non suppressed fire arm. Was reminded when I let rip with a 12ga no ear pro

  7. I've been running this kit for a couple years. The empty shells will catch inside that groove in the charging handle. To stop these stovepipes, I dedicated a charging handle to my conversion kit set-up and filled the first inch or so of the groove with Silicone RTV. Ejection is flawless with this fix.

  8. I'd like to make a PSA to Sig MCX owners: Illumined Arms makes a kit that allows you to use one of these CMMG .22 kits in any 5.56 MCX. For anyone who bought an MCX and now cant afford ammo because you bought an MCX.

  9. I love this kit. The unreliability of .22 LR is good for malfunction training. I have mine configured with the shortest native 22 LR barrel CMMG sells just for fun. The rig looks like a 5.56 rig so everyone thinks the muzzle blast will be aweful until the first shot.

  10. Had a lot of malfunctions and even broke the charging handle at first. Reported it to cmmg and they gave me the kit specific handle ( 80 bucks )for free, good folks over there. Add some bore buddy reliability parts and you can go ham, dumped spamming hard af 12 or so mags in a row with no malfunctions last week. That reloader is a great idea too, makes it so much quicker. Anyway, love this thing and can't recommend it enough.

Ps. Federal sucks load for sure, i stick with cci through black dog mags

  11. The only way to avoid the cmmg 22 jam of death is to get the bore buddy charging handle insert. It fills in the space where the spent case gets lodged in the charging handle groove when exposed as the .22 bolt cycles backwards. It’s called the jam of death because cycling the action won’t clear it. If it does happen tho, just pull the bolt back with your finger pressed into the dust cover groove on the bolt and you will release the jam of death. All in all, highly recommend the bore buddy upgrades available on their website.

  12. Mine went over 8000 rounds before the firing pin broke after that another 6000 then the extractor broke replaced it currently at around 18,000 still running I clean it about every 500 rounds the spring seems to be just fine i have had to replace 2 mags due to the springs weaking
