In this video, Chandler takes us through his unboxing, overview, and first impressions of the Red Dot Magnifier from Holosun; the HM3X. This affordable magnifier offering from Holosun proves to be a great intro into red dot magnifiers, but time will tell how it holds up in the long run.

  1. I’m late to the party but thanks for the video! I’m not super happy with my vortex micro 3x and this seems to solve some problems I have with it. Mostly eye relief. I also wanted to see if you could use the magnifier with flip up back ups. Glad to see you doing that here

  2. Oh bro you need the holosun 510c I've got it on top of my cmmg 556 mk4 wasp I take it on and off at least 2 to 3 times a week it's always on at 50 it's never been off that's a hell of a thing for me also you've got dot dot with circle then circle bright to dim the brighter it is in the room or outside the brighter the dot after 10min it goes to sleep till it feels movement it wakes

  3. Do shell casing hit the magnifier when it is put to the right side (or not in use)?
Does it lock positively and stay in place when you are running with the rifle (does it move around loosely as your moving)?

  4. Seems to me, a lefty, that the Holoson magnifier will be in the way of the sight when canted over to the right. Could they make the canting mechanism a left/right option? Anyone actually tried to use this magnifiers as a lefty? Oops, I looked further and noted you can turn the mount around and get a left handed option. My bad.

  5. Man my 510c red dot looks way more clearer than my eotech does and it’s half the price lol Words to eotech you guys need some new technology asap!!! I just bought another 510c for my B&T GHM9G I was going to go with a AMES or 512c but I’m not into the box type red dots but maybe I’m just being weird I’ve used the 512c and it’s a killer red dot and damn near indestructible.

  6. Have both the EoTech G33 and the Holosun HM3X, found we determined little to no difference between the two magnifiers for ease of use, clarity, eye relief. Both functioned well under use. Each did not hinder intended function. A magnifier is a must have item behind a EoTech or Red Dot sight for target identification at range.

  7. Your rifle is set up really close to mine. I am using nights armament ebay sights and I use magpul grey everything including the sling. My olight is even grey. I wrapped the wire in electrical tape to stiffen it up and protect it , it's and held down with 2 zip ties. I don't have to worry anymore if its going to disconnect. The tape kinda pushes it forward and holds it in place. Its the mini, its good but not as good as its bigger brother. I have it on another rifle. I have the 10.5 with flaming pig and the law tactical folding adapter, so I can put in a back pack and take to and from my truck without anyone knowing and freaking out. I highly recommend it. I had that hand stop but played with it too much trying new things and ended up over tightening the screws and they pushes through the plastic making it useless. I replaced it with more of those great rail covers. Sorry longer than needed my way of saying you have great taste in affordable but really good upgrades. Beautiful rifle.

  8. Need to clear up something you said about the Vortex being awkward to manipulate because of the plunger being on the wrong end if you flip it. This only applies to their older 3X model, the VMX-3T. The newer Micro3X does not have a plunger and can be easily and conveniently flipped over and used that way, if the shooter so chooses. I also find that the Holosun HM3X tends to be not as solid on the rail, and can be accidentally shaken off a setting. If one gently shakes the rifle with the HM3X installed, one can feel and hear a rattle. These symptoms are not present with the Micro3X. However, the HM3X does have amazing glass for a unit at the $200 price level. Also, the eye relief and a sight picture could be easier to acquire for the less experienced with the HM3X because it is longer, thus being closer to the shooter’s eye. It’s a personal preference: if you don’t mind the extra bit of weight and mass on the rifle, you’re maybe not perfect on acquiring a sight picture, the HM3X might be for you. If you want less weight and mass with great clarity and want an unlimited, unconditional, lifetime guarantee, and don’t mind paying about $100 more, the Micro3X is more likely going to be your choice. I think it would be prudent for you to do the research BEFORE making a statement, even with a disclaimer. It’s lazy.

  9. I have both the Vortex 3x and Holosun 3x and I like the holosun better for three reasons. 1) The mount is much more convenient to mount 2) the glass looks much clearer and 3) the eye relief and scope shadow seems better to me than the Vortex. I have the Vortex 3x paired with their UH-1 Gen 2 and I feel like I have to get much closer to the eye piece to get a good sight picture. The magnified objects look good but when I compare to the Holosun 512c and the 3x the Holosun is a bit more forgiving on the eye piece and slightly clearer. I was impressed with the Holosun I purchased another to go with a Holosun 510c. I’m more of an LPVO person but there is no arguing a holographic or red dot is very fast. But going beyond 3x, I would rather take an LPVO than say a 4 or 5x magnifier.

  10. The magnifier can be tilted to the left? I'm left-handed and swinging it to the right takes away my field of vision.

On the other hand, is there enough eye relief to shoot with a magnum hunting rifle?

    Great video.
    Thank you

  11. What length barrel are you running with this setup? How far out did you reach with decent accuracy? At what range is your EOtech zeroed? Did you need to make windage and elevation adjustments on the magnifier?

Just curious. Been looking at a few of these magnifiers.
