NRA-ILA | Kansas: AG Kobach Calls For Lowering Carry Permit Fee

Earlier this week, the House Committee on Federal and State Affairs heard House Bill 2412, to reduce fees for concealed carry permits. Attorney General Kris Kobach has stated his support for this bill, which was introduced by Rep. Rebecca Schmoe (R-59). Please contact committee members and ask them to SUPPORT HB 2412.

House Bill 2412 eliminates state agency fees for concealed carry permits, reducing the fee total to just the $32.50 paid to the applicant’s county sheriff. Though Kansas is a constitutional carry state where law-abiding citizens have the right-to-carry without having to first apply for government permission, many still choose to get a carry permit for its additional benefits, such as reciprocity in other states, being able to present it for quick verification of eligibility, and being exempt from having to undergo a federal background check for every firearm purchase from a dealer. Reducing the fee is a further recognition that exercising a constitutional right should not be conditional upon the ability to pay the government.

Again, please contact committee members and ask them to SUPPORT HB 2412.
