So positioning your red dot up and down the rail is basically an FOV slider 😂
Actually, all that matters is range you're playing at and YOUR situational awareness. The sight being close doesn't have that big of an impact, it's all up to how you play really.

I always mounted my sights as close as I could to me, until I started using a ak74u with a quad rail for the front hand guard, I have a eorech on it and it’s actually really nice having it out farther, I can see more and still be on target

There’s two important things missing: 1. Once the optic is in the desired location you need to push it forward until it stops before tightening, and 2. Mounting the optic on the bridge between the receiver and the handguard is no bueno.
