American Tactical is well known for their extensive lineup of aftermarket accessories for virtually any type of firearm. This year at SHOT 2023 Luke C visits with American Tactical to get some details on their upcoming 22LR Glock conversion kit that is set to cost just a hair under $100 MSRP. This new type of conversion kit requires no recoil spring, or magazine changes and comes with everything you need to get your 9mm Glock pistol converted to be used with the much less expensive 22LR cartridge.

  1. The G44 is already a direct blowback 22lr Glock and has a slide that’s partially made from polymer to decrease the weight enough to ensure that it will feed properly.
And this thing promises to work reliably with a much heavier slide and chamber adapters that have more surface area (and thus more friction) than a normal 22lr casing?

I guess it could be practical for people who want to train drawing their gun with their normal slide setup and with ammo that won’t cause as much damage if they pull the trigger while still pointing the muzzle towards their crotch, but I can’t see any other reason why someone would want to buy this instead of a G44 or one of those 22lr conversion slides.

  2. Couldn't they just make a dedicated mag so we didn't have to buy and load adapter shells? Kinda defeats a big part of the purpose of shooting .22lr through your normal weapon system if you have expendable adapters you also have to periodically purchase.

  3. Suggestion: instead of selling the shells for 22, this company should sell 22lr rounds already encased in those shell adopters. Maybe sell it for the price of the shell + the price of a 22lr round. Otherwise, it will take too long to load a mag because you’re basically loading bullets (or complete cartridges in this case) into the shells before you can load them in a mag.

    *literally fits only 2 models*

    Well F me, I have a G34 and I'm working on building a G22 upper (with barrels in 9mm, 40, & 357)
