Former SWAT member and 3-Gun National Champion, Joe Farewell, talks about using an offset red dot setup for your rifle.
Having a red dot offset on your AR-15 can come in handy especially if you use a low-power variable optic (LPVO).

For that red dot vortex on that link it comes with piece already to install? On the ar-15?
6 moa red dot or 3 moa?
What the offset angles available these days? I only see 45* angles. I want to experiment with bigger red dots on an offset mount.
I have many red dots laying around that I replaced with LPVO's. Most will not clear the LPVO's ocular lens.
Any ideas?
Are both eyes opening when aiming? And switching optics?
Does anyone know his barrel length?
Forget the optic …thats a sweet rifle…..
What brand/model stock is that?
Hell yeah brother!!!! Great video!!!🎥
Anyone know what brand/name of that muzzle device?
Good info! Thank you!👍😊🇺🇸
What ear protection you guys using? Im tired of wear fat full over the head ear protection.
I sell this setup to coyote hunters 200 yard shot… 10 yard shot
Ok. I gotta ask; what brand is your muzzle brake? Your rifle sits vvvvery still and soft when it fires. I like it✔️👍
Damn he's good
how about doing an offset with a tubular style red dot, like Crimson Trace CTS-25 with an LPVO that is what I would like to see, and what kind of mount would be needed to hold the heavier weight of the tubular style red dot? preferably on a low cost budget for us "Poors".
Unless this is for SF purposes or the purpose of a backup optic due to battery failure, this setup gives credence to running a cheaper fixed mid-power scope instead of an expensive lpvo. Really the backup reason isn't the reason since most of these lpvo models have etched reticles. Battery power is a nonsequitur. The real reason for most people to run this setup, is that it is cool and ''high-speed''.
You're running the Badger Ordnance C1 mount which can have an integrated offset RDS mount attached with the J-Arm, but you choose to run a standalone offset RDS mount. Why is that?
Thanks Joe! I want that razor so bad. Sick mount too. Thats a great setup brother.
ok now make a case for the 1x option on the lpvo. the conclusion will be "id rather run a 2-whatever or a prism instead of an lpvo that has a 1x option worse than the red dot in every way"
Is there enough space to use an offset enclosed optic or would that be too bulky? How does it fare when close to the ground or under a car? If the rds is used close up is there a big upside over offset irons? Is the angle mostly dictated by the needed space to clear/adjust the lpvo? What's the downside mounting it further forward besides the glass appearing smaller?
Good stuff. Training definitely is the key.
Outside of flat range larping or being a current Navy Seal, you're living in fantasy land
What if you are a lefty like me? Are there specific mounts for lefties or we can switch the mount left or right?
Good video, interesting option…too bad I have a giant cranium. Even gas mask qual was a PITA!
All training should seek to develop both sides of the body equally. One criticism I’ve heard of the 45 degree offset red dots is that they’re difficult to use ambidextrously. I’ve tested this and found that I can roll the rifle outboard (lefty) almost as easily as I can roll it inboard (righty). Can you maybe address this in a future video for the doubters and critics?
Great video
What's the point of a lpvo if it lives at the highest power and use a red dot on the side. Wouldnt it be cheaper and lighter to have a fixed 10x and 45 red dot? You dont use 2 threw 9 power.
WOW AMAZING!
Very cool but like he said you gotta train with it to be proficient. If your just putting it on to look cool it's pointless. Liked the video thanks for taking the time to make it.👍🔥
What handguard is that?
