  1. but what are the ballistics of a 6mm ARC with a 12" to a 16" inch or shorter barrel out of an AR-15 without being a specializes set up. just an every day AR-15 build chambered in 6mm ARC what kind of performance can I expect everything I have seen is out of an 18" inch or longer barrel which you will not see much on a battlefield.

  2. I know most barrel builds use rifle length gas for 18" and above. I would like to try a 18" with mid-length gas on the 6mm ARC . My question is, is that advisable or will that hurt your bcg or hunting grouping shots?

  3. As far as military usage goes, I'd like to see how the 6mm arc does with a 14.5 in barrel. The 16.5 in (and up) barrel lengths are too long for effective military use regarding close combat and weight savings for our troops.

  4. He said they tested as short as 12" barrel in an AR. How far out is the round accurate with that short a barrel? That could be great for like a backpack hiking/hunting combo gun.

  5. Hornady need to up their game.

An 11” .308 can launch a hand loaded 125gr SST at 2500fps (all be it with an offensive muzzle blast 😂).

The winning card for 6mm is it’s flat shooting and moderate recoil. .243 Win is great in theory just burns out barrels quickly. If Hornady can get 6mm ARC to have a MPBR of over 220yrds from a 11” barrel its a true game changer.

The 105gr Black 6mm ARC with a BC of .53 needs to be launched approximately 2600fps for a 4” MPBR of 220yrds.

    The 125gr .308 SST launched at 2500fps has a 4” MPBR of 205yrds.

If 6mm ARC can’t beat that its failed as an SBR, hell at 2400fps the 6mm ARC matches the 125gr .308 and will drop less past then. The battle load will be lighter to carry than a .308 pack and can stretch out further if needed with less effect by wind drift.

    A little R&D could make 6mm ARC great 👍

  6. I like the cartridge on paper and am a big Hornady fan. They really made the Creedmoor a great cartridge with their support. This may be the best cartridge for a standard bbl AR.
The marketing in this video lacks. One cannot simply say “it is the greatest and will make all your dreams come true” and link the same chessy little simplistic ballistics chart to all comments.

  7. Looks like a fantastic cartridge and I can't wait to jump on the wagon, but it doesn't outperform the 6.5 Grendel by much. My 18" Grendel pushes the Sierra 107's at 2750. Either the 6 ARC can match that velocity with the 108's out of an 18" barrel or it can't. What good is a slightly better BC if the bullet goes 100 fps slower? My guess is the two cartridges are the exact same performance.

  8. glad to see some more new cartridge additions, been a while, as a reloader and p.o. ackley fan i appreciate NEW STUFF, for some of the crowd posting i apologize for their lack of study, if you have the muzzle velocity, bullet weight, coefficient you can get YOUR OWN DATA, have a nice day and thanks Hornady!
