The Streamlight PolyTac is a small-to-medium sized EDC light that has a handful of nice features. It has 3 output options – Low (14 lumens), High (275 lumens), and strobe. It comes in black, coyote (which looks a bit O.D. green to me), and yellow. The pocket clip is my favorite feature – it’s long and therefore gives you security when it in a pocket or on your gear. Check it out!

unable to accept rechargeable batteries
whether streamlight polytac can use a rechargeable nitrore rcr123 battery
Can I use rechargeable batteries like 18650 or 16340?
Excellent review. About the only thing I would change is to bump the lumen output to 325 to be comparable to the Surefire GX2. If Streamlight could do that without increasing the price more than $5.00 it would kill the GX2.
The light is also programmable !! Ten tap switch so you can set it to low only or low and high only or back to high strobe and low cool option to bad my surefire doesn't do that G2X pro is amazing but only low and high mode great camping light
Amazing light for the money nothing I would change but a color red for search and rescue would be nice.
Great review. I just bought this flashlight at Cabelas, I was not fully understanding how to switch between modes, but your instructions were spot-on. Awesome, thanks!
You say it's solid EDC, Tim, and yet it only takes primary batteries. That's as far from solid EDC as you can reasonably get. "Durable", maybe, but definitely not "solid". Go the rechargeable route or go home.
4 months later, how is the PolyTac holding up? Do you think it will be as durable and reliable as the Surefire G2X?
Is the pocket clip removable? Also, a belt holster for it would be nice.
I have this one in black as well as the ProTac HL which I let my mom have when I upgraded to the ProTac HL 3. I also had a couple of their keychain lights as well. The only Keychain flashlight I consider worth the investment. As you can see I'm pretty much a die hard streamlight nut. It's simple. You can thoroughly beat up their lights and they simply don't quit.
With that clip I think I would end just leaving it on a backpack.
Tim you should check out the Coast HP7R pen light. It seems like it will end up being a favorite small rechargeable utility flash light.
Streamlight makes some really nice lights. I like that it's slightly 'fatter' than some other EDC lights, seems better to keep a grip on. Pretty bright light, too! Thanks for sharing!
My clip broke after three weeks
Best pocket clip i have ever seen
would be great to clip on my shtf back pack.
Looks like a great light my friend (^_^)
I have the same version and carried it in my front left jeans pocket. The clip would get caught on the seat belt in my truck and bend out to 90* angle from the flashlight. After bending it back into place a couple of times the clip broke. Now I use it in conjunction with an @ELZETTA mount on my AR15.
What size batt c123 expensive or as
That thing looks so cool!
