    "You can compare apples to apples…what lumens is, but lumens can be a misconception though because just because a light has a lot of lumens doesn't mean it has a lot of distance…"

    Is this supposed to clear things up?

    Is a flashlight measured with both ratings? How about some practical comparisons?

  2. The size of the reflector isn't really the big one, rather angle, how deep the bulb is inside it, and the curve of the lens. Coast has lights with no reflector shoot 1000 feet, all-lens. The material of the reflector and the crowning of the bezel also matter.

  3. Lumens, the total amount of light coming out of the flashlight. Candela, or lux, the intensity of the light coming out. A larger reflector will focus the lumens into a more intense beam that will throw farther.
