This video stemmed from a comment former actor George Takei made about the AR-15 which got me wondering if a modern civilian sporting rifle would be a good battlefield weapon.

Even if you disregard the logistical challenges of mixing Ukrainian 5.45 and NATO 5.56, I can say with confidence that sending the AR-15 to Ukraine would be a bad idea based on the testing in the video below:

Well, why not also ask if ammo was compatible, could it work? If we are hung up on ammo problems we'd have lrobably just quit by now, seems like a headache as it is

OK, I get it, BUT! imagine sending our surplus weapons, not ar 15 but Tompsons, bars, m16's, etc. TO ALL THE CIVILIANS! IMAGINE 10000 M60'S WITH 3 BELTS OF AMMUNITION! Every city would be a hunting ground for russians!
