Are you trying to assemble an M5 lower and noticing any of the issues listed below?

– weird magazine catch fit
– seemingly impossible pivot pin install
– mysterious pre-installed bolt catch pin

Well, I googled this shit so hopefully you might not have to.

Side note: the painted safety selector positions are NOT standard from the factory – I did that myself with testor’s enamel paint and a toothpick.

  1. Hey Parker I had a roll pin leftover that I'm not sure what to do with? I haven't been able to find any info on it, and also the rear takedown retention spring hole is threaded for a plug but when I actually threaded it in it made the takedown pin impossible to remove. Any idea what that ug is for?

  2. You forgot to mention the rear takedown pin detent and spring, that is held in by the world's smallest set screw… I yeeted that across the house 🀣 the gun is just lighter weight now haha. Held in with the handguard just like the safety detent

  3. Hello what is the purpose of the Detent looking device below the rear take down pin. It almost looks like a buffer tube Detent directly below the rear pin? What is that?

  4. Hello I have Aero precission M5 lower , from what company I can purchase my upper complete receiver? I call a gun shop they say any brand will work and other gun store said it will only work with aero upper receiver. Anyone pls able to help me which is what I need

  5. I had the same issue with pivot pin, txt'd Aero Customer Support and their shop sent a 10 se video showing the process described. What worked in short time was noticing that the Aero Tec, while holding the punch tool in place, depressing the detent spring, was 'wiggling' both the punch tool and the pivot pin until the pivot pin 'caught' the top of the detent. to make sure I pulled the punch tool SLOWLY while keeping pressure on the pivot pin – and it popped right in.

  6. If you are going to build AR-15 receivers, it's best to get the vice blocks for both the upper and the lower. You may think it's something you'll only do once, but you'd be wrong. Once you build an AR pattern rifle once, you'll do it again and again. Having the tools to do it correctly makes the experience much easier and saves you a considerable amount of frustration.

  7. Concerning the magazine release button (exactly what I was looking for when I clicked on this video) – it needs to stick up somewhat (at least) so the operator can push it down far enough to release the mag. The button should be flush with the raised section of the lower (in front of and above the button) that forms the fence. The button should definitely NOT be flush with the exterior of the recess in which it sits – that's too low. It seems they supply standard AR 15 catches that don't fit properly. The AR 10 lower is wider, so when you screw the release and the release button together, the release's shaft doesn't come flush with the outside of the button (as it does on an AR 15). This is pretty cheap. It gives the impression that the AR 10 mag release button doesn't have as good a grip on the release's shaft as it does on an AR 15. Until seeing your video I thought that maybe I had been furnished with a kit that had the wrong mag release with it. Unfortunately it appears that's not the case. They really should make the shaft longer. As it is on your build (and mine) there's a little well on the button into which crud can gather.
