Streamlight TLR-1 HL – The Best Budget Pistol Light?

My long term review of the Streamlight TLR-1 HL. This is a great “budget” pistol light, that is more than durable enough for serious use. For the money, I think this is the best duty light, despite some negative features.

  1. The rechargeable batteries die with no warning because they are protected circuits designed to keep lithium batteries from blowing up. They turn themselves off when they get below a certain voltage and they turn themselves off when they get above a certain voltage.

  2. I had issues with the first 2 Brownells slides I got for my 34. Third one works great but it was ridiculous having to send two back. The first one was so out of spec the safety plunger wouldn't even fit in the hole. Second one the safety plunger would drop into the hole but it would not drop down far enough for the striker to be able to go forward. The guy I talked to on the phone said they had a bad batch of them and that it was a known issue. Totally ridiculous to me that they would continue sending out slides they knew had issues. Lately I have been on a Glock 19 build kick. Combat Armory frame, lower parts kit and barrel combined with a PSA dagger Slide and recoil spring. End result is a $275 Glock 19 with a threaded barrel and Optics cut.
