How odd. An elected person who enters the building through a secure door protected by guards armed with the same style rifle the tax would affect offered this legislation. Rules for thee, but not for me!
Even more odd is how these horrific shootings always uptick right as the election cycle begins. This administration is a disaster. The economy is falling apart. Inflation is acutely rising. Unrealistic policies are failing across the board. People are struggling financially. But we get to focus on gun control and abortion with the news media.
I actually think this is excellent idea. And no, I am neither left wing nor right wing. This is NOT a ban, but it will keep guns from mentally retarted people.

no problem, pay with Monopoly money like the government produces backed by nothing only to steal from us. Treasury bonds don't finance dik, it's all paid for by us through inflation. We get less and less every year so politicians can get wealthy pretending to have a purpose to their existence.

An Excise Tax on guns: OK per 2nd ammendment because it is on gunmakers, and passes by reconcilliation. EXCISE tax of $5000/AR15 removes the profit motive in building them.
Democrats love those taxes. Just tax stupid and we will not have a national debt.
