In this video I test the Modlite PLHv2 vs the Cloud Defensive OWL, Surefire 600DF, Streamlight Protac HLX and Olight Warrior X Pro. I test indoor vs outdoor beam patterns up to 300 yrds, as well as discuss value, mounting options, etc. Hopefully this video can help you make an educated decision on which light is best for you. Thanks for watching.

  1. I especially like the part around 9:45, where he starts mumbling quietly when saying what flashlight he is using as if HE is the home intruder trying not to alert the homeowner. C'mon man, say it with your chest!

  2. For me its Surefire for the win and I have them on everything……. I do have a cloud defense rein which is great outside at 100 yards…… but for my needs which is self defense, in a house or close up outside Surefire wins……. I don’t need 70,000 candela at the expense of everything else.

  3. Great video man, thanks for this. No one has shown beam pattern for indoor use on the web. Most everything you find is only testing the light at range and brightness. You went over the whole gambit. Then pulled out the scale at the end to weigh the lights. Top notch man, Top notch.

  4. Surefire wins hands down. Anyone that knows how to use a light on a gun will know why, everyone else is just marketing prey.

Edit: The streamllight will work great for those on a budget, just buy the surefire cap and with any light get a solid mount.
Hell an old M951 with an A.R.M.S. mount would work great for home defense is you need something cheap dependable and reliable.

  5. I am a weapon light junkie and watch a lot of the big name youtube reviewers and dude I have to tell you that you did a hell of a job with this video… One of the best comparison videos I've seen to date. Bravo!!

  6. Great review. Hard to beat the Plight Warrior X Pro for a budget build. I think I would go with the Owl if I found it on sale for $300 & didn't have to worry about the $.

  7. I'm useing a streamlight protac HLX on my ar15 and my ar9 carbines. The ar9 carbine is my primary home defensive weapon. And both serve my needs well. A weapons light is essential or a must on every defensive longgun and on defensive handguns as well. A light will give a target identification in darkened areas for threats. I also have streamlight tlr8a flexs on my glock19 and 23 as well as my sig320c. The thousand lumens and 5000 candela is bright enough for my needs. And can light up a target out to 100 yard the tlr8 a flex has 500 lumens and is good out to 350 yards for positive ID out to 50 yards. Which is the maximum use for a handgun at least for me. Streamlight does everything I need from a weapons mounted light. At the distances I'll have to engage a hostile situation. And the truth be known a weapons mounted light needs training on to be effective and used effectively.

  8. Cloud defense is very bright but the mounts are severely inferior Walmart china inferior! It can be used as a toy but Not on a weapon. all kinds of people complaining about the cheap aluminum screw mount!

  9. Awesome review! Thanks for showing so many lights. Just as an FYI (and you probably already know this by now) the Cloud Rein is even more powerful than the OWL and not much different in price. IIRC it's over 10,000 candela brighter!

  10. I am new to the rifle light game and there is no 'perfect wml'. However, I think the OWL is the one to get since i don't plan on running IR/ night vision and everything is one tight albeit heavy body

  11. Should I get a Modlight PLH 18650 or Surefire scout m600df? Or are those too big and go with a mini scout? Have a 10.3 with 9.5 Geissele MK8 rail I want to put it on. Will mount it most likely to a unity tactical or arisaka mount.

  12. Thanks for that very comprehensive video review. I have a visible laser with a IR laser with an IR illuminator mounted on my AR to work with my nods, but this weekend we had an FTX where we were required to use a weapons mounted light and I didn’t have one. So I am currently shopping for one. Thanks again 🙏👍

  13. Great review, however the biggest differences Ive seen which have been clear cut have been same test in smoke, fog, rain, twilight and reverese lighting conditions. Some are very good while others are rather disappointing. Amazing what a little enviormentals can do to a light.

  14. Thanks for doing such a helpful video. Yours is the first I’ve seen with all of the most important lights (IMO). So, I just received the new Olight Oden. As well as the Warrior X Pro which is a bit more lumens than the regular Warrior X with tail switches for both. If you had any inclanation, I would definitely grab the Oden and test is against these lights that you have here. It comes with a mount and a locking tail pressure switch in the box.
I also wonder about the new Owl that’s coming out soon. Would be nice to test that as well against everything here!! Thanks!
