I never liked Eotech battery life but my 512 first had the battery contact problem that killed the sight. Sent it back and a year later the screen delaminated in the corner which caused the upper corner to have no reticle visible. Sent it back, then sold it off. Multiple Aimpoint’s replaced it, and I think they make the best dot. Cost is really the only downside. If you want to magnify for precision, buy an lvpo. If you want to range a target, practice a bit and realize 556 is 0-300 yards with almost no holdover. No need to range with a reticle when you can’t reliably tell what your shooting at past that.
I have basically super astigmatism called Keratoconus. I really want to try an Eotech, I heard Holos are better for astigmatism than red dots. I'd like to try something other than an LPVO.
The get on my soap box for a second. If you have astigmatism and you are younger (Early 20s or a teenager or even mid 20s) and you feel it is getting worse with age. Please go to a corneal specialist and get a check for Keratoconus. It gets worse as you age and can get very bad, but there is non invasive operations to halt it
Decent points. But I personally think the PA SLx Cyclops microprism edges out the 512 in the "all around" role.
