CMMG is updating their full line of AR’s, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to “look back” at my CMMG AR stories before looking towards new experiences with the refreshed lineup. Today I’ll walk you through each of Ultimate Reloader’s CMMG ARs, what I’ve done with each, and why I like each of them.

  1. I have been trying to get someone to help me with a 6mmbr AR platform AR-10 or AR-15. I don't care if I have to single feed it but that kind of defeats the purpose of the AR platform. I was told it was and can be done. I have the 6mmbr in a single shot handgun by Competitor out of NH. I also have a Dtech 25WSSM, Armalite 5.56 National match , and a Aero 308. What do you think about a 6mmbr AR build? I have been reloading for over 50 years and am passing it down to the grandkids. Cost and availability is getting to be a problem. I enjoy watching your show. Thank you for keeping reloading alive and taking it to the next level.

  2. Looking forward to hearing what accurizing you did on the 6mm ARC. I really wanted to adopt that round, but I ended up returning my Aero 6mm ARC upper back to Brownells because it was getting AK accuracy instead of sub MOA. I could do a lot better with 223 & 556 on the same setup with just a different upper, so given the high cost of 6mm ARC I just abandoned the platform.

  3. My CMMG Banshee in .22LR jammed regularly with many brands of ammo, especially Remington Golden Bullets in hollow point. Rounds failed to feed into the chamber properly. I tried many things to fix this. What finally worked was the purchase of a Black Dog Machine magazine. Although the Rem GBs continued to jam some, all the other brands of ammo I tested worked reliably. The Black Dog mag is slightly thicker and wider than the CMMG mags. This eliminated most of the slop of the CMMG mags in the magwell. CMMG should have done a better job of designing and testing its mags.

  4. I'm having a dismal experience with my CMMG. It has an issue, and customer service is not responding. Their phone message says to send an email. That is understandable in today's environment. However, my first email was sent February 11. I resent it about a week ago. There is not even an acknowledgment of receipt of the emails. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service. If this is how they operate I can never feel comfortable with buying another one. I would not even buy parts to build a rifle based on my experience.

  5. Kevin what do you think about the legislation that has apparently passed on nothing over a 10 round magazine. I understand it's sitting on the governor's desk and you know he's gonna sign it. Also I have a banshee 10 mm in midnight bronze and I've been trying to work a load up for it but I'm not having very much luck. I'm only getting about a 3" group at a 50 yds with 180 grain jacketed bullets, when I talked to CMMG about it they said it's because I'm shooting handloads.

  6. What everyone fails to mention is that the 10mm version destroys the brass. It bulges it so bad at the case head. Even with lee bulge buster half of it is un-reloadable.

  7. CMMG has become my go to for sure. There quality and reliability is second to none. My first was a Mutant in 7.62×39 and I use it for thermal night time hog hunting. I have ran at least 40,000 rounds through this gun and all suppressed and it just keeps going. It will eat anything you feed it, steel case or brass. I know they now call it the MK47 but I think this is one of there guns that really stepped up there game and deserves to be mentioned.

  8. As an old fart and being old enough to remember how the gun industry products where decades ago; it's just been amazing how much innovation, development, and expansion of choices that has evolved since the good ol days of decades ago with little to no innovation and you can have any model you want so long it's that one simplistic basic one with the attitude that you can take it or leave it.

  9. Nice overview of their line-up. The one topic I would add, is their Mk-47 Mutant. A very unique model for an AR platform, and one of my personal favorites from CMMG. And looking forward to hearing more about your collaboration with Gordy on that accurizing job in 6 ARC. Sounds like an awesome predator/varmint rig.

  10. Not a CMMG. But shot my Ruger PC9 with Red Dot yesterday at the range. Had gongs setup to 100 meters. A Semi Carbine in 9mmP is probably the most fun a person can have on the range with gongs. Was shooting it silenced and with Break on. Either way had near zero recoil. Would not mind an AR style Semi 9mmP as well.
